Cavs, J.R. Smith Agree To Push Back Guarantee Date Of Contract

The Cleveland Cavaliers and J.R. Smith agreed to push back the guarantee date of his contract to July 15th, league sources told Joe Vardon of The Athletic

The agreement gives the Cavs more time to find a trade for Smith. In exchange, the guaranteed portion of Smith's contract rises from $3.9 million to $4.4 million.

Smith last played an NBA game on November 19th.

The move makes Brogdon a restricted free agent.

The Bucks, who have several key players who are free agents this summer, recently traded Tony Snell in an effort to clear cap room.
