Chris Bosh Meeting With Heat Amid Pressure To Sit For Remainder Of Season

Feb 24, 2016 3:08 PM

Chris Bosh is under increasing pressure from doctors and the Miami Heat to sit out the rest of the season due to the potential of a recurring medical condition.

Bosh missed the final 30 games of the 14-15 season after a blood clot moved from his calf to his lungs.

Bosh has a meeting planned with Heat officials, including Mickey Arison and Pat Riley, in the next 24 hours to move closer to a final determination on his status.

Bosh has been searching for ways to continue playing this season with the use of blood thinners but that scenario has been met with significant resistance.

LeBron James 'Feeling 10 Times Better' Than Last Season

Feb 24, 2016 12:50 PM

LeBron James feels much better physically this season than last when he missed 13 games, which included a two-week hiatus to rest.

"It's how my body was feeling," James said Wednesday. "Last year I was banged up. It's not a mindset, it's just reality. This year I feel 10 times better than I did last year. So that's the mindset."

James has only sat out one game so far this season.

James admitted making five straight trips to the Finals has started to catch up with him, but that he's not so worse for the wear that he would consider sitting out games.

"I guess I've played so much basketball, man, feeling great, those days are pretty much over," James said. "I don't know anybody that's played 13 years that you can say, 'Oh, I woke up and I feel great.' I feel great as far as life and getting an opportunity to wake up, but as far as me feeling like a 23-year-old, those days are passed."

Nikola Pekovic Out Indefinitely As Achilles Recovery Lingers

Feb 23, 2016 12:56 PM

Nikola Pekovic will be out indefinitely as he continues his recovery from surgery on his right Achilles.

Pekovic underwent a debridement and repair of his right Achilles on April 8, 2015.

“Our main concern is for the health of Nikola,” said Timberwolves General Manager Milt Newton. “Our priority is getting him back on the court, playing at a consistent level for a sustained period of time. After much consulting with Nikola, our medical staff and some of the leading doctors in this field, we believe this is a necessary step in that process.”

“A typical recovery from an Achilles surgery is 9-15 months,” said Timberwolves Vice President of Sports Performance Arnie Kander. “While we’ve made significant strides with Nikola since his surgery, we’ve come to the conclusion that to ensure he has the best opportunity for sustained success on the court, we need to continue to focus on his rehab and make that the priority. We will continue to do that for the foreseeable future with the goal of him returning to the court at the appropriate time. We will continue to provide further updates as they relate to his return to action.”

Pistons Ask For More Time To Evaluate Back Injury Of Donatas Motiejunas

Feb 21, 2016 4:34 PM

The trade between the Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons may be voided to the back issues of Donatas Motiejunas.

The Rockets sent Motiejunas and Marcus Thornton to the Pistons on Thursday for a protected 2016 first-round pick.

Motiejunas hasn't played since Dec. 31st as he recovers from a sore back.

The Pistons asked the NBA for an additional 24 hours of the 72-hour trade window to determine if Motiejunas can play for them.

"We'll see. If they don't give us more time, we'd have to make a decision," Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy told reporters Sunday, according to the Detroit News.

Joel Embiid Working On Next Phase Of Rehab In Qatar

Feb 18, 2016 12:17 AM

Joel Embiid travelled to Doha, Qatar over the All-Star break consulting and rehabilitating his twice surgically repaired right foot.

Embiid is at Aspetar, which is described as "the world's leading specialized orthopedic and sports medicine hospital."

Embiid is expected to remain there for a few more days.

This is being described as a "previously scheduled" trip at a facility the organization had investigated for roughly six months and referred to it as "a kick-start to the next phase" of Embiid's rehab.

Plenty of world-class soccer players work with what the main source referred to as "a high-performance hospital."

The Philadelphia 76ers aren't yet sure if Embiid will be healthy enough to play in Summer League this year and he hasn't played in a competitive game in nearly two years.
