Kevin Durant To Return From Hamstring Injury This Week

Nov 23, 2015 4:34 PM

Kevin Durant is on course to return to the lineup this week.

Durant missed the past six games with a strained left hamstring.

Durant was not cleared to play in Sunday night's home win over Dallas, but it's believed that either Monday night's visit to Utah or Wednesday's home game against Brooklyn is a strong possibility for his return.

Durant suffered the injury on Nov. 10.

Marcus Smart Out At Least Two Weeks With 'Really Unique' Leg Injury

Nov 23, 2015 3:43 PM

Marcus Smart is expected to miss at least two weeks with a lower left leg injury.

Smart will not need surgery.

Smart suffered the injury when he collided with Thomas Robinson on Friday.

Smart left the game and underwent an MRI and did not travel on this current road trip.

“They’ve gone and taken a bunch of images of it; they’ve wanted to make sure,” Stevens said.

“They’ve actually asked for second opinions on it, because it’s a really unique injury. But it’s not a long-term thing, and it’s not a huge issue. They just want to make sure that everything is fully healed before he comes back.”

Joel Embiid Showing 'New Level Of Maturity'

Nov 23, 2015 12:33 PM

Joel Embiid has been working more diligently on his conditioning as he rehabs from another foot operation this season.

"He just seems like (there's) a new level of maturity, a new level of seriousness in him," a source said. "The gravity of the situation is on him; it's on everyone."

The multi-season injury to Embiid has delayed the 76ers' timetable for their rebuild.

"It's unfortunate, and we're definitely going to miss him because of what we do, so it's next man up right now," Kyle Lowry said.

76ers Exposing Joel Embiid To Ilgauskas' Success Story

Nov 18, 2015 11:54 PM

The Philadelphia 76ers have again asked Zydrunas Ilgauskas to meet with Joel Embiid.

Ilgauskas was able to overcome the foot injury that has forced Embiid to miss the first two seasons of his NBA career.

"His story is real," Brett Brown said. "And it really resonates with Joel on the pitfalls of it all and the mental side of it all and the discipline to take of your body to get back onto the court."

Ilgauskas missed 202 games and had three fractured navicular bone surgeries from 1998-2001. His final surgery included a bone graph and the reshaping of the first metatarsal and heel bone to relieve stress in his foot.

Brown said Embiid is progressing "great" and is "doing fantastic in his mind."

"He is so determined to do everything that he has to," Brown said, "everything that people are telling him that he has to do to get it right.

"There was a real progression in his maturity and seriousness to understanding truly what needs to be done for him to give him every chance to get back on the court."
