The Oklahoma City Thunder will consider trading away Russell Westbrook if he decides not to agree upon a renegotiated deal for 16-17 with an extension, or at least a commitment to remain long-term.

One source said in February that Kevin Durant leaving would only make Westbrook more resolute to stay.

Westbrook has enjoyed his pursuits in the fashion industry, which would lead to a natural synergy playing in either New York or Los Angeles, but he's also seemed to enjoy the relative anonymity and lack of media pressure in Oklahoma City.

Westbrook has played his entire career in Oklahoma City and is scheduled to be a free agent in 2017.

“He’s gone after this year,” said one league executive to the Boston Herald. “A hundred percent. I think that’s the case no matter what (Durant had decided). I guess people can always change their mind, but I think this season was going to be it for him there no matter what.”
