They may have saved the most important workouts for last.
In preparation for Thursday night's NBA draft, the Jazz will look closely at seven more players over two days, including forward Aleksandar Pavlovic from Serbia & Montenegro and forward David West of Xavier.
Pavlovic and West will work out today at the Zions Bank Basketball Center, along with North Dakota center-forward Jerome Beasley and SMU guard Quinton Ross. Wednesday, the Jazz will work out Duke swingman Dahntay Jones, Notre Dame guard Matt Carroll and DePaul forward Sam Hoskin.
Clearly, Pavlovic and West are the biggest names in this crowd, and their workouts could be the most important conducted by the Jazz. Both could end up being available when Utah uses the 19th pick of the first round, and both could be capable of filling a need for the Jazz.
Pavlovic is a 6-foot-7 scorer whose athleticism and competitiveness have attracted NBA scouts. He is only 19 years old. West (6-9, 240) averaged 20.1 points and 11.8 rebounds as a senior at Xavier. He was the Associated Press and U.S. Basketball Writers' Player of the Year.
