After bringing home a gold medal from Beijing, LeBron James has also developed a close relationship with Doug Collins.

Chris Collins, Doug's son, was an assistant to Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski, and Doug was asked to speak to the U.S. Redeem Team about his own Olympic experience and what regaining the gold medal would mean.

Collins was a key member of the 1972 U.S. team that lost the gold medal to the Soviet Union in the most controversial finish in Olympic history.

After the buzzer sounded in the gold medal game against Spain, James almost immediately made a bee-line for Collins and bear hugged him.

"We know what Doug went through with the whole Olympic thing," James said. "They were cheated out of winning the gold medal - over and over again in the last minute. He was just as big as everybody was on the Redeem Team. He meant a lot. He gave us words of advice before we went across the water. He was there with us the whole time. He was a big part of it."
