The Orlando Magic (2-2) held off the Chicago Bulls (2-2) on Monday night thanks to strong performances from Dwight Howard and Rashard Lewis. Howard had 22 points and 15 rebounds, and Lewis added 21 points and 11 boards of his own in the win. The Magic outrebounded the Bulls by three, attempted thirteen more free throws and hit four more three-pointers. Drew Gooden led Chicago with 21 points while rookie Derrick Rose tallied 14 points and 4 assists in his fourth NBA game. Andres Nocioni, who had 20 points and 7 rebounds off the bench, missed a free throw in the final seconds that Chicago rebounded, but he missed a three-point attempt that would have tied the game.

The Sacramento Kings (0-4) remain winless after falling at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers (2-2) at the Wachovia Center. Eight players scored double figures for the Sixers, who shot 59% from the field and outrebounded the Kings by six. Philadelphia?s Thaddeus Young led all scorers with 18 points. Rookie Jason Thompson starred for Sacramento, tallying 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists in the loss. Spencer Hawes continued his hot start, as well, posting 15 points and 8 rebounds in thirty-four minutes of action. The 76ers outscored the Kings in each of the game?s four quarters.

Richard Hamilton scored 19 points, and Amir Johnson contributed 12 points and 6 rebounds in the win, hours after the Pistons traded Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess, and Cheikh Samb to Denver for Allen Iverson. Detroit shot 50% from the field, outrebounded Charlotte by eleven, and turned the ball over just eight times. Gerald Wallace had 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Shannon Brown tallied 16 points off the bench in the loss.

Mayo added 13 points and 4 boards in the win. The Grizzlies attempted seven more free throws than the Warriors and limited them to just 34% shooting on the night. Andris Biedrins posted 16 points and 22 rebounds while Stephen Jackson had 17 points and 5 assists in the loss.
