Mo Williams and Rajon Rondo were candidates, but David Stern and the NBA went with the familiar face of Ray Allen as Jameer Nelson's All-Star replacement.

Allen will be making his ninth All-Star appearance.

The Celtics' shooting guard was also an injury replacement during the 2008 All-Star game, but is widely believed to be more deserving of the spot this season despite the presence of other guards.

Allen scored 28 points in the game and was considered an MVP candidate that day, but the award went to LeBron James.
