The Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans are pursuing Kyle Lowry in free agency, but with him appearing increasingly likely to end up with the Miami Heat, they could take on Goran Dragic as a consolation prize. Both the Mavericks and Pelicans have begun to search elsewhere for a starting point guard beyond Lowry.

The Heat picked up their $19.4 million option on Dragic for the 21-22 season, which helps them facilitate a sign-and-trade with the Toronto Raptors for Lowry. But the Raptors aren't likely interested in Dragic due to the presence of Fred VanVleet and he could be routed to another team.

Dragic has been a longtime mentor to Luka Doncic and they were close to acquiring him in 2019.

The Pelicans also have the restricted free agency of Lonzo Ball to consider this offseason.
