The New York Knicks have a hole at backup power forward with Obi Toppin injured. Tom Thibodeau has turned to playing a second center when Julius Randle sits, with Jericho Sims often joining Isaiah Hartenstein on the floor.

Despite that current rotation hole, the Knicks don't plan to return to a familiar face in Carmelo Anthony to fill it. There is a belief that Anthony wouldn't fit the defensive style, while pushing the ball on offense, that Thibodeau is trying to get New York to play.

Many speculated Anthony could return to the Knicks. His former agent, Leon Rose, runs the New York front office, while Anthony's son is playing high school ball in New York.

With Toppin projected to miss only a few weeks, the Knicks plan to wait it out. They also don't want to run into a situation where Anthony is playing minutes that Toppin needs to continue his development.
