Jayson Tatum is off to an MVP-caliber start. His Boston Celtics have raced out to the NBA's best record at 21-5. But Tatum and the Celtics are remaining grounded and focused.

“I think everybody in the locker room understands what we’re trying to do,” Tatum said. “We realize that we’ve got the best record — we’re 21-5. With that comes the decision every night to play the right way, as hard as we can on both ends.”

Tatum went on to say that all the winning, starting in the second half of last season, has been fun. But Tatum also said Boston is focused on bigger goals than winning regular season games.

“We’re having a lot of fun, but I think the goal is still the same,” Tatum said. “Get back to the Finals and get over that hump. While we’re having fun and happy with the way we play, nobody in that locker room is celebrating or satisfied where we’re at. None of this means anything if we don’t hang a banner. That’s the ultimate goal.”
