ESPN's Shams Charania reported that San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama was able to participate in cardio work on Wednesday as he recovers from a concussion suffered in Game 2, though his status for Friday's Game 3 against the Portland Trail Blazers remains in jeopardy.
"Victor Wembanyama was able to participate in cardio work ... his symptoms didn't worsen, he wasn't feeling worse than he did when he suffered the concussion. As of right now, my understanding is he is hopeful that he'll be able to travel with the team to Portland on Thursday," said Charania.
Charania added that there is no guarantee that Wembanyama will be cleared for Friday's game as he still has to check boxes from both the Spurs and the league surrounding his return.
The league's policy states that Wembanyama will be able to return to basketball activities after 48 hours following a diagnosis.
"What we know about the Spurs is that they're always going to error on the side of caution ... the Spurs are taking this day by day. We'll know more on Thursday about whether he'll be able to play on Friday," added Charania.
The series is tied at one heading into Friday's game in Portland.
