The Houston Rockets are expected to hire Ben Sullivan, Aaron Miles and Mike Moser away from the Boston Celtics to join the staff of Ime Udoka.

Joe Mazzulla will be losing three assistant coaches after also losing Damon Stoudamire during the middle of the season. 

The Celtics also previously didn't replace Will Hardy, who left for the Utah Jazz.

The Boston Celtics and Jaylen Brown can agree to a supermax contract extension this offseason. Brown was a second team All-NBA selection this season, which made him eligible for a supermax contract for up to 35 percent of the cap.

"In talking to people on both sides, I think there's a very good chance they're going to find ground on that," said Brian Windhorst on his podcast.

Brown is currently scheduled to become a free agent in 2024.

If Brown signs a supermax this offseason, he would be ineligible for trade for one calendar year.

Robert Williams threw up during Game 7 as he's been battling a stomach virus.

Williams played in only 14 minutes in the game though he scored eight points on 4-for-5 shooting with six rebounds.

Williams appeared in 35 games during the 22-23 season as he returned from offseason knee surgery.

The Boston Celtics are expected to retain Joe Mazzulla as head coach next season. 

Mazzulla has $14 million guaranteed on his contract over the next three seasons with the Celtics. Mazzulla was elevated to interim head coach and then permanent head coach in February.

Mazzulla will have the opportunity to hire his own coaching staff this offseason, which he was unable to do last September due to the nature of Ime Udoka's suspension. 

The NBA's Last Two Minute Report from the Boston Celtics' Game 6 win over the Miami Heat found no issues with the foul call against Al Horford on Jimmy Butler's three-point attempt with three seconds remaining.

The play had been controversial as referees moved the clock from 2.1 seconds to 3.0 seconds, which gave Derrick White enough time to convert his put back layup at the buzzer.

The other debate about the Butler play was over whether he double dribbled after losing the ball. The report said he did not, explaining that Butler "fumbles the ball out of his control when he ends his dribble, then recovers it and legally attempts a field goal."

Put of 32 items the league reviewed from the final two minutes, there were just two missed call, which both favored the Heat.

Malcolm Brogdon has been playing through a partial tear of the tendon in his right elbow that leads to the forearm, sources told Jared Weiss of The Athletic.

Brogdon suffered the injury in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Brogdon had been playing with a sore elbow against the Sixers, though he exacerbated the injury when he boxed out Kevin Love in Game 1.

Brogdon, who intends to continue playing with the injury, will evaluate whether he needs surgery after the season.

The Boston Celtics resisted the idea of trading Jaylen Brown during the 21-22 season when they were struggling before they turned around their season and ultimately reached The Finals under Ime Udoka.

But there was at least some level of reported interest from the Celtics that next offseason in trading Brown in a package for Kevin Durant. 

With the Celtics possibly falling short of The Finals this season and Brown eligible for a supermax extension, the idea that they could consider trading him has been speculated about at least in the media. If the Celtics do make Brown available with one season remaining on his contract, there would likely be a lot of teams interested in gambling on their odds of extending or re-signing him.

"There would be robust demand for Jaylen Brown from a lot of teams if Boston ever actually started making or listening or picking up the phone or whatever you do with your phone when you maybe investigate a trade," said Zach Lowe on his podcast between Games 3 and 4.

Brown can only receive the supermax from the Celtics and would be ineligible to be traded for one season.

With the Boston Celtics falling behind 3-0 in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Miami Heat, the question of Joe Mazzulla's job as head coach as come under question.

As recently as last week's draft combine in Chicago, sources told Jake Fischer of Yahoo that the Celtics would give Mazzulla "quite a bit of runway to grow into an elevated role on the team's sideline."

Mazzulla is 34, two years younger than Brad Stevens was when he was hired by the Celtics as head coach. The Celtics initially elevated Mazzulla to interim head coach following the suspension of Ime Udoka and then signed him to an extension giving him the head coach job permanently in February.

"If the Celtics suddenly reversed course on Mazzulla, it would be a stark change of direction from the franchise’s original intent to allow Mazzulla similar time to flourish in the position," writes Fischer citing sources.

Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics averaged 6.13 million viewers on TNT.

The number was up 1% from the same matchup last year on ESPN.

Game 1 of the series averaged 5.95 million viewers, a slight decline from last year. 

The Boston Celtics face a 3-0 series deficit in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat despite coming into the series as heavy favorites.

"This locker room never got over Ime Udoka's dismissal as head coach," said Adrian Wojnarowski on ESPN on Monday when trying to explain why the Celtics are on the brink of elimination. "These players did not accept the organization's reasoning for doing it. They thought it was a wild overreaction. There were a lot of the people on the outside thought it was an overreaction. That it was an HR matter.

"I think for this team and talking to the management, they never got any more answers than the public was getting on this. This doesn't mean they haven't accepted Joe Mazzulla as head coach, but this is a team that really believed in Ime Udoka and had a strong connection with him.

"I think there were a couple instances this season where a lot of that angst resurfaced. First, when the Brooklyn Nets nearly hired Udoka as head coach and then when the Rockets did. Certainly those were factors."

Wojnarowski also suggested the Celtics possibly made a mistake in not hiring a more experienced assistant coach under Mazzulla.
