Bulls Haven't Ruled Out McGrady

Jul 30, 2010 4:52 PM

As of Friday morning, the Bulls had not completely ruled out signing veteran free agent Tracy McGrady.

When Eddie House signed with the Heat, the Bulls lost one of their free agent options. Chicago continues to look at Keith Bogans and Roger Mason Jr.

Even though the Bulls haven't ruled out signing McGrady, a source close to the situation maintains that doing so remains "unlikely."

Rose Not Disappointed By Decision To Pass On McGrady

Jul 30, 2010 7:39 AM

Derrick Rose said last week that he'd love to see the team sign free-agent swingman Tracy McGrady.

However, after Chicago met with McGrady earlier this week it became apparent that they wouldn't be adding the veteran to their roster.

Rose said that he wasn't disappointed by the decision.

"No, not really," Rose said. "Like I said before anything, I'm cool with the team I have right now. I think we have good youth on the team. We should be all right.

"If [McGrady] comes or if he doesn't, we should be able to compete out there. That's up to the Bulls."

Regardless of the decision on McGrady, Rose didn't hide his displeasure about new coach Tim Thibodeau's decision to let assistant coach Pete Myers go.

"It hurts a little bit, but he should be somewhere around," Rose said. "Pete is a guy, if it wasn't for him, I don't know where I'd be in this league. He's always there and brings a lot to the organization."

Myers is expected to take a job in Chicago's front office.

Reached Wednesday night, Myers declined to comment.

Sources said Thibodeau, who has hired Adams and Greer, already has contacted candidates to replace Myers.

Myers might move to the Chicago front office.

Bulls Aren't Convinced McGrady Would Fit

Jul 27, 2010 7:32 AM

The Bulls aren't completely sold on signing Tracy McGrady, according to sources with knowledge of the team's thinking.

Following his workout with Chicago on Monday, McGrady spoke as though he was already a member of the team.

"I think we can be really good," McGrady said, "I really do."

One source said McGrady looked good physically during Monday's workout, but the veteran still hasn't convinced the Bulls that he'll embrace a reserve role.

Another source put the chances of McGrady signing with the Bulls as "unlikely."

McGrady Prefers To Sign With Bulls

Jul 26, 2010 3:45 PM

Tracy McGrady's first choice is to sign with the Bulls after completing a workout with the team on Monday.

"This was a great team, a pretty good team, without adding myself and Carlos Boozer, and some of the key players that they added this offseason," said McGrady. "You bring a coach in like [Tom] Thibodeau, who's very defensive minded, very smart and knows the game, knows what to get out of his players.

"I think we can be really good, I really do."

McGrady worked out for the Clippers last week.

He has also expressed interest in playing for the Heat. The veteran said he wouldn't mind joining Chicago as a reserve, but his preference would be to start.

"I won't have a problem, but that's not what I'm really shooting for," he said of a potential bench role.

"I think, yeah, if I was the player that I was in a Knicks uniform, I would have no problem coming off the bench, but I've worked extremely hard and I'm far from being that player. Trust me."
