Dunleavy Going To Arbitration For Unpaid Wages From Clippers

Apr 18, 2011 4:36 AM

It has been 13 months since Mike Dunleavy Sr. was fired as head coach and general manager of the Clippers. That was also the last time he was paid by the organization.

Dunleavy's case will be heard in arbitration, starting Monday before Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services in Santa Monica. Proceedings are expected to last several days with additional briefs filed afterward, and the judge could issue a decision by June.

There is $6.75 million in unpaid salary remaining on Dunleavy's contract.

Last summer, the Clippers alleged that Dunleavy defrauded them and filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court, a tactic called "bold and reckless" by Dunleavy's attorney Miles Clements. He also described it as a "delay tactic."

Within four months, the Clippers filed papers to dismiss the complaint.

Clippers Wish They Could Have Done More To Develop Aminu, Bledsoe

Apr 14, 2011 7:44 AM

The Clippers began the season with a 1-13 start and then were 5-21. But they went 26-26 over their next 52 games, finishing the 10-11 season with some momentum.

"From a development standpoint, I think we could have done a better job with Al-Farouq [Aminu] and [Eric] Bledsoe, at times," said Neil Olshey, the Clippers' vice president of basketball operations.

"We set the table. We learned how to compete, learned how to play for 82 games instead of until the All-Star break. That set a tone of being that much closer to where we need to be."

Free Agent DeAndre Jordan Will Get A Lot Of Interest

Apr 8, 2011 1:49 PM

After experiencing a breakout third season, DeAndre Jordan will be a restricted free agent this summer.

Taking the new CBA and probable lockout out of the equation, one prominent NBA agent pegged Jordan's value on the open market to be around $9 million to $11 million dollars per season.

Although Jordan remains raw offensively, the shot blocker has made enough of an improvement at the defensive end to make a big impression.

"Any team that needs a center will be interested," a front office source said. "New York, Houston, Miami, Boston, Cleveland. The question is who has the money to bid it up? New York."

"I can assure you that keeping DJ as part of our core is a major priority and one we will address at the first opportunity," Clippers general manager Neil Olshey said.
