Bulls Won't Acquire Jackson, Mayo; Will Stand Pat

Dec 31, 2010 9:36 AM

There have been a number of rumors about the Bulls looking to upgrade their talent at shooting guard, but they'll stand pat at the position for the time being.

Chicago has been linked to Stephen Jackson and O.J. Mayo, but they'll continue to rely on Keith Bogans, Ronnie Brewer and Kyle Korver.

The Bulls were engaged in talks recently, but nothing is imminent or likely, according to an NBA source.

They don't want to mortgage their future by making a move.

Dec 30, 2010 7:14 PM

The Timberwolves plan to make a push to acquire O.J. Mayo, sources told Ken Berger of CBS Sports.

Minnesota traded Mayo's rights to Memphis on draft night two years ago in the deal that gave them Kevin Love.

Mayo is frustrated coming off the bench in Memphis and "needs a change," according to one person familiar with the situation.

The Wolves are also pushing to acquire Anthony Randolph, who is stuck on New York's bench.

Grizzles Prepared To Deal Thabeet

Dec 23, 2010 10:52 AM

With a 12-17 record, the Grizzlies appear ready to trade Hasheem Thabeet in order to immediately improve their club.

Griz general manager Chris Wallace declined to discuss potential deals and said the team's trade activity has been overstated.

"We are continuously talking to teams throughout the year. And it's no different than the process of the other 29 teams," Wallace said. "Sometimes those conversations are very simplistic, and there's nothing to them. Sometimes they're serious. It's the normal course of what's out there.

"But we don't feel we have to do deals right now. That's how you end up making mistakes. You walk a fine line with being aggressive and seriously considering all of the options. We have quality players."

Grizzlies Don't Regret Drafting Thabeet, Haven't Given Up On Him

Dec 21, 2010 4:40 PM

Hasheem Thabeet is still struggling, but the Grizzlies aren't ready to give up on the young center.

Memphis drafted Thabeet with the second pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, ahead of guys like Tyreke Evans, Stephen Curry and Brandon Jennings.

"I'm not a regrets guy," general manager Chris Wallace said. "I don't think he should be put in a dead-letter file. That's extremely premature for that."

Thabeet's numbers have fallen further across the board this season.

"It's really difficult," Thabeet said about living up to expectations.

"I'm here working out. The team knows where they are with me. I'm just doing my job. I don't really have an explanation about the question I get every day. I put myself in this situation so I got to deal with it. But to be part (of the NBA) is special, and I'm happy to be here."

The Grizzlies don't have any such plans in the near future, but Thabeet would be fine with another trip to the D-League.

"I wouldn't have a problem," Thabeet said. "I just want to play ... I don't want to be the guy that's hanging around. I want to play. So if they call me out there, I'll go out there. Now, I'm here so I've just got to do my work."

Rudy Gay May Face Suspension After Flagrant 2 Foul

Dec 18, 2010 10:20 AM

Rudy Gay lost his cool on Friday night against the Rockets, committing a flagrant 2 foul on Luis Scola.

Gay charged and threw a forearm at Scola after appearing to take an elbow to the face from the forward on the previous possession.

He was immediately ejected following the foul.

"I let my anger get the best of me," Gay said. "It's not characteristic of me or anybody else on this team. I probably shouldn't have done that. Me as a leader, I probably shouldn't have done that."

The NBA reserves the right to levy a suspension following flagrant 2 penalties.

Grizzlies Deny Thabeet, Mayo Trade Rumors

Dec 14, 2010 7:32 AM

The Grizzlies are denying rumors that they are looking to trade Hasheem Thabeet and O.J. Mayo.

It was reported on Monday that Memphis was shopping Thabeet "hard," while another report suggested Mayo could be traded as early as this week.

"We are not trying to trade O.J. or Hasheem," said Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley. "We haven't had any conversations about them, and I should know because I'm the one making the decisions."

Memphis coach Lionel Hollins said trade rumors involving Mayo will persist because of his move to the bench.

"A lot of people have speculated that he's going to be traded because he's not starting," Hollins said. "That's the nature of the media beast."
