Tobias Harris Waiting For Medical Clearance After Dehydration Scare

Dec 30, 2011 10:27 AM

Bucks rookie Tobias Harris suffered from dehydration after a practice session early in training camp and was taken to the hospital, where he stayed for two nights.

Now he is having his blood levels monitored daily while waiting for full clearance from team doctors.

"When you sit out that many days, you can't be in the best of shape," Harris said. "I've just got to stay confident and push through it."

Bucks athletic trainer Marc Boff said Harris is being monitored for his electrolyte levels, hydration and muscle byproduct levels. One of the muscle tests being done is the creatine kinase or CK test, which measures an enzyme in the blood and can show if muscles have been injured or are healing.

"It's something doctors are really looking into and it's why they're really cautious," Harris said. "That's why I've been cautious also during this time. Each day I have to take it step by step. It's a process."

Jackson Checked Out On Bobcats Following Wallace Trade

Dec 27, 2011 10:25 AM

Stephen Jackson's desire to play for the Bobcats waned when the team traded Gerald Wallace last February.

“When Gerald left, I really left,’’ Jackson said.

“Considering what we did (getting to) the playoffs, and then all those changes. To take Gerald away really took a lot out of me. I still was trying to do my job as best I can, but it was a lot harder.  When they got rid of Gerald, that let me know they didn’t want to win. I didn’t want to be part of a place like that.’’

Jackson was dealt to the Bucks in June.

“If they’re going young, and they feel like they’re going to lose, it was the best situation to move me. I wasn’t going to be happy with just losing. I agree with them on that.’’

Stephen Jackson Seeking Extension, Vows Not To Be A Distraction

Dec 23, 2011 10:14 AM

Stephen Jackson, whom the Bucks are hoping will be a key cog in their quest to return to the NBA playoffs, said he's putting his contract extension request on hold.

"I'm going to go ahead and let it die down," Jackson said. "Right now, I know it's not the time to talk about contracts or anything like that. It's about focusing on getting to the playoffs."

Jackson, 33, will be paid $9.2 million this season and $10 million next season. He reportedly wants a two- to three-year extension.

"This is probably the last time I'm going to address it," Jackson said about his contract situation. "We'll see how this plays out.It would be good to finish up here, I'll tell you that. I love it here.

"Like they say, ‘You play good, they pay good.'"

Kohl Believes Bucks Can Compete, Profit Under New CBA

Dec 11, 2011 2:07 AM

Herb Kohl believes the Bucks can continue to compete and even become profitable under the terms of the new collective bargaining agreement.

"I think on balance it's good for small-market teams and gives us a real opportunity to be profitable from now on, which hasn't been true for quite a number of years," Kohl said.

Kohl has contended for years that the Bucks lose money and are the least-valued team in the NBA, according to Forbes.

Kohl said he voted in favor of the new deal.

"To the credit of large-market owners, they understand if we are going to move forward as a 30-team league there has to be a willingness to share more local revenue. Right now, we've not really done that," he said.

Kohl acknowledged the Bucks would be in line to receive approximately $15 million to $16 million a season.

"On balance, considering the CBA and revenue sharing together, there were a lot of good things in it," Kohl said.

"I wanted to be sure smaller-market teams were taken into consideration. It didn't come easily, because those who have don't want to give, and those who don't have perhaps want too much."
