Nets, Rockets Haven't Had Traction On James Harden Trade

Dec 28, 2020 6:16 PM

The Brooklyn Nets have been on James Harden's trade list, but there appears to have been very little in the way of discussions with the Houston Rockets.

Spencer Dinwiddie has been linked with a potential trade for Harden, but he was ruled out for the season on Monday with a partially torn ACL.

"Spencer Dinwiddie's health did not make or break the Nets' ability to get James Harden," said Zach Lowe on his podcast. "It's unclear to me, frankly, if those teams have had anything resembling a serious conversation about James Harden. Let's make that clear. I don't sense that there's been hardly any traction there at all. And maybe the way the Nets started had them thinking 'Why are we messing with this?'"

The key to Brooklyn potentially trading for Harden has been believed to be centered more on their ability to put a young star from another team in a three-team package.

Dec 28, 2020 1:50 PM

Kevin Durant will sit Monday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies as it is the second game of a back-to-back.

Durant is listed as being out for injury recovery.

"I definitely want to be able to play back-to-backs," Durant said after Sunday's game. "Get through 'em healthy and play my normal minutes, so we'll see."

Steve Nash said he didn't have a season-long plan for how the Nets will manage Durant in back-to-back games.

Steve Nash Predicts 'Big Contract Whenever The Time Is' For Jarrett Allen

Dec 27, 2020 8:28 AM

Steve Nash is predicting a large contract is in the future of Jarrett Allen after he was unable to come to terms with the Brooklyn Nets before the deadline last week.

“I haven’t talked to him about that,” Nash said. “We’re focused on the season. He has a bright future. He’s going to have a big contract whenever the time is.

“The guy was unbelievable [Friday]. He was good in the first half, he was special in the second half. That’s what it’s going to take to win, especially as we’re forming here, is special efforts and man, he was good. … Defensively, protecting the rim, loose balls, rebounding at both ends, he was outstanding. We’re proud of him and he’s continuing and improving at this stage of his career.”

Allen, by most accounts, is the superior option at center over DeAndre Jordan but doesn't share the same support from Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

Kyrie Irving Plans To Burn Sage Before Games This Season

Dec 19, 2020 1:21 AM

Kyrie Irving says he plans on burning sage before games this upcoming season as a way to honor his Native American heritage.

Irving was filmed burning sage before the Nets game against the Celtics.

"It just comes from a lot of native tribes. Being able to sage, just cleanse the energy, make sure that we're all balanced. When we come into this job, we come into this place, it's not anything that I don't do at home that I did today.

"I saged last game, and I plan to sage almost every game if the opposing team will allow me to," said Irving.

Irving was inducted as a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in the summer of 2018.

"That gives us good energy. He does it in the locker room. That's his thing, and we all respect him. We respect his method, and he comes out here and plays extremely hard for us," added Kevin Durant of Irving.

Rockets Want James Harden Trade 'Done Sooner Than Later'

Dec 18, 2020 11:21 AM

The Houston Rockets have opened up trade discussions on James Harden with teams beyond the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets.

"They're starting to gather more interest in both the Eastern and Western Conferences," said Adrian Wojnarowski on ESPN.

More teams are becoming comfortable with trading for Harden without an assurance he would commit long-term.

"One thing is for certain: Houston would like to get this done sooner than later. This is a pall over the entire organization...

"They've got to find the right deal. This is too important for the organization long-term. They have a checklist for what they would like in a deal. You don't always get everything you want in one of these trades, but they have to really maximize value. That's going to be a really good young player and draft picks, at the very least as the comb the league.

"They're looking at three-team scenarios. Perhaps a particular team doesn't exactly have the player they want but they can help go get that player in a bigger deal."
