Alvin Gentry: Anthony Davis Is A Great Kid, You're Not Going To Get Me To Say Anything Bad About Him

Nov 26, 2019 3:11 PM

Alvin Gentry and the New Orleans Pelicans will face Anthony Davis for the first time on Wednesday.

"AD is a great kid. You’re not going to get me to say anything bad about AD," Gentry told USA TODAY Sports. "He wanted to be traded. He had the right to ask for it. That’s it. There’s nothing else there."

Davis expects to be booed upon his return.

"I have a lot of love for the city" because of both friends and family ties and community projects. "I had a great time. I think a lot of people there know that," Davis said. "The rest are fans of the Pelicans. I understand why they feel that way. But it’s all love on my end."

Josh Hart Reaches Out To Lakers To Clear Air Over Negative Comments

Nov 25, 2019 11:43 AM

Josh Hart called some of his former teammates with the Los Angeles Lakers as well as front office staffers to clear up negative comments he made about the franchise on a podcast.

Hart said he never intended those comments to become public.

Lonzo Ball says, "Lithuania was very depressing. I went there to go visit [my brothers]; I wouldn't do it again. ... It's like hella gloomy, nobody smiles, it's like everybody just hates that they're there. I'm like 'Damn.' I had to get out of there, bro."

Hart then jokes, "Sounds like L.A. ... No, I'm not talking about the city."

Ball responds, "I don't know what he's talking about. ... Next question. Cut that part out."

At that point the producer says, "We're gonna edit this part out, so you might as well just tell us."

Hart laughs and says, "I was going to say the Lakers organization."

The Pelicans will host the Lakers on Wednesday.

"When my sarcasm, that wasn't supposed to be in that -- it was supposed to be cut -- was in there, I called some of the people in the [Lakers] front office, I called some of my teammates that I had and made sure they knew that none of this stuff was about you guys," Hart told ESPN on Sunday night.

"I loved my time here. I loved my time here and I wouldn't have changed it for the world. I love Laker Nation. They show so much love, so much support."

Zion Williamson Says No Timetable For Return, Is 'Taking It Day By Day'

Nov 8, 2019 2:40 AM

Zion Williamson gave an update on his rehab, saying that he's focused on getting stronger with every day.

Williamson was ruled out for 6-8 weeks following knee surgery on October 21st.

"Day by day, its getting better and I think it's going very well. I do feel like it's getting stronger day by day. The trainers and stuff are telling me day by day it's getting stronger and I can feel the difference each day," said Williamson.

Williamson added that there's no rush for his return, and that he'll return to the court when he feels ready.

"I'm just kind of taking it day by day. I think when I'm ready -- there's no real timetable -- when I'm ready, I'll come back ... This isn't like college or something where it's 30 games. It's 82 games, so I don't really see a need to rush back. When they feel like I'm back to myself, they'll let me play. Simple as that," said Williamson.

Nov 5, 2019 2:36 AM

Brandon Ingram recounted the shots he missed after scoring a career-high 40 points in the New Orleans Pelicans' 135-125 loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

Ingram finished 17-24 from the field, while adding 5 rebounds and 5 assists.

"A floater. A layup right in front of the rim. I missed a jumper. I could've done better," said Ingram after the game.

Ingram was recently evaluated, then cleared for a concussion.

Alvin Gentry said that his team needed more consistency throughout the game.

"We decided to play 20 minutes in a 48-minute game, and that doesn't work out. We have to have the same effort throughout the game." said Gentry.
