Howard Healed For Beijing Olympics

Jul 15, 2008 7:38 PM

Magic center Dwight Howard claims that he is ready to go for the U.S. Olympic team after being held out of practice last month with a stress fracture to his sternum, according NBA.com.

He suffered the injury during Orlando's second round series with Detroit.

"I tried to play as much as I could through the pain in the playoffs," he said. "I really didn't know anything about it until after the playoffs, that I injured it."

He appears very focused on the Olympic games.

"Winning the world championship for the USA team is for everybody in America," Howard said. "It's not just you taking it back home and saying, 'I got a gold medal.' It's 'We got a gold medal.' We all did it together."

Orlando Has Serious Trade Talks For Crittenton

Jul 15, 2008 11:35 AM

The Orlando Magic have held serious trade talks with the Memphis Grizzlies about point guard Javaris Crittenton.

Crittenton is part of the backcourt logjam in Memphis and would welcome a trade.

"I know there's a lot of interest between the two teams, and I have a call in to Otis (Smith) to talk to him about it," his agent Wallace Prather said on Monday. "We know a lot of the players on the Magic team, so it would be a good fit for Javaris."

Crittenton played high school basketball with Dwight Howard.

To get Crittenton, the Magic would most likely surrender veteran shooting guard Keith Bogans and multiple draft picks. Orlando has a glut of shooting guards with Pietrus, Bogans, J.J. Redick, and rookie Courtney Lee.

Nets May Add Dooling

Jul 13, 2008 6:40 AM

The makeover in New Jersey may continue, with the Nets looking for a combo guard such as Orlando free agent Keyon Dooling, the New York Post is reporting.

"We could be very active," said Rod Thorn. "When you look at our roster, we've got a lot of players now, and we could still be active. We might add a combo type of guard or a point before all is said and done."

Dooling is on that list, but after making $3.6 million with the Magic last season, he may be priced too high for the Nets' liking.
