LeBron James 'Thought Long And Hard' About Signing With Rockets, 76ers

Jul 30, 2018 6:50 PM

LeBron James said he strongly considered joining the Philadelphia 76ers and Houston Rockets before deciding to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers.

"I definitely thought long and hard about the possibilities of lining up alongside Ben [Simmons] and [Joel] Embiid or lining up aside [James] Harden and Chris [Paul],'' James said.

James never formally met with the Rockets or 76ers, though his representatives did meet with Philadelphia on July 1st.

The path for James to join the Rockets would have been difficult in terms of the salary cap.

James said his decision involved where his family would feel comfortable as well.

Ed Davis Also Received Interest From Blazers, Warriors, 76ers, Thunder

Jul 26, 2018 9:50 AM

Ed Davis received interest from the Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, Oklahoma City Thunder and Portland Trail Blazers before agreeing to a one-year, $4.4 million deal with the Brooklyn Nets.

“The main thing is they definitely came out aggressive when July 1 hit, so I definitely wanted to go to where I was wanted, so that had a lot to do with it,” Davis said on a conference call. “Then, I talked to Allen (Crabbe) and Jeremy (Lin) a little bit about the coaching staff and things like that and how the organization was run, and it was nothing but great things. Then, I think this team has potential definitely. We can try to make this push into the playoffs this year, and it’s going to be a challenge, but that’s one of the reasons why I’m here.”

Jul 20, 2018 11:03 PM

Nemanja Bjelica has agreed to a three-year, $20.5 million deal with the Sacramento Kings.

Bjelica initially agreed to sign a one-year, $4.4 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. Bjelica reconsidered the agreement because of family, professional and personal concerns.

“I spent a lot of time talking with Vlade (Divac) and as an icon in our country, he has a unique perspective on what it takes to put yourself in a successful NBA situation and what it takes as a player to perform in that situation,” Bjelica told Yahoo Sports. “The organization’s belief in and commitment to me overwhelmed me and my family. I am ready to do everything I can to help the Kings and be a part of the Sacramento community.”

Spurs Required Ben Simmons Or Joel Embiid To Trade Kawhi Leonard To 76ers

Jul 18, 2018 4:33 PM

The San Antonio Spurs made it clear in Kawhi Leonard trade talks with the Philadelphia 76ers that they would requre either Ben Simmons or Joel Embiid.

That asking price was understandably a non-starter for the 76ers.

Philadelphia's potential package of Robert Covington, Dario Saric and Miami's 2021 unprotected first round pick wasn't of interest to the Spurs.

It is unclear how much interest the Spurs had in Markelle Fultz as he was never seriously discussed and sources say the 76ers wouldn't have traded him.
