Serbia&Montenegro got a new tandem in an NBA team--after already established pairs of Zeljko Rebraca and Darko Milicic in Detroit, Vlade Divac and Peja Stojakovic in Sacramento, Marko Jaric and Peja Drobnjak with the Clippers, Dejan Koturovic will join Zarko Cabarkapa in Phoenix.
Koturovic signed a contract with the Suns for just "a little over the minimum after turning down offers in Europe of up to $1.5 million?, according to his agent Rade Filipovic.
"I'm glad I signed with Phoenix and finally got to the NBA. I'll give it my best to satisfy the front office, coaches, and the fans. I have 31 years and enough experience. Some may say that at this age, I've arrived too late, but I just wanted to prove myself and hope to have success with my new team", said Koturovic, who played last year with Virtus Bologna in Italy, but became a free agent after the club wasn't able to fulfill all the contract obligations.
After two unsuccesful tries in the past (Boston and Lakers), Koturovic finally fulfilled his dream. "It's not only the quality of the league, but there's other intanglibles, as well. The pressure is much worse in Europe than it is here. Some teams make you play hurt because the result is what's important. The NBA is set up differently, from the front office to the fans."
