Suns Gave Bucks Permission To Meet With Jae Crowder

Jan 30, 2023 9:11 AM

The Phoenix Suns have had Jae Crowder on the trade market since before the season began. With less than two weeks to the trade deadline, Phoenix may finally be moving closer to trading Crowder.

The Suns gave the Milwaukee Bucks permission to meet with the veteran forward. The Bucks have been interested in dealing for Crowder for a few months now. Milwaukee is believed to be the only team that Phoenix gave this permission to. The Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat are also known to be interested in acquiring Crowder ahead of the deadline.

Crowder is owed $10.2 million in the final season of his three-year contract with the Suns. The 10-year veteran asked for a trade before the season, when Phoenix made it known that they planned to start Cam Johnson over him this season.

The Bucks are currently offering Jordan Nwora, Serge Ibaka, George Hill and second round picks for Crowder.

Bulls Have Shown Interest In Jae Crowder

Jan 29, 2023 7:58 PM

The Phoenix Suns are widely expected to trade Jae Crowder before the February 9 trade deadline. The Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks are known to have pursued Crowder for months. Now, we can add the Chicago Bulls to the list of suitors for the veteran forward.

The Bulls have had talks with the Suns about trading guard Coby White for Crowder. Chicago has a surplus of guards and have a need for frontcourt depth. Phoenix has suffered several injuries in their backcourt throughout this season.

Both Crowder and White are on expiring contracts. Crowder is set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer, while White is eligible for restricted free agency.

Kyle Kuzma Drawing Interest From Knicks, Suns, Mavs, Hawks

Jan 27, 2023 10:52 PM

The New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, and Atlanta Hawks are mentioned as possible trade destinations for Kyle Kuzma should he demand a trade, sources told Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report.

Pincus adds that "smart money" has Kuzma staying with the Wizards this season, then opting out of his contract and signing new deal with the team.

Marc Stein of Substack recently reported that the Wizards plan on re-signing both Kuzma and Kristaps Porzingis

Heat Remain Interested In Jae Crowder But Talks With Suns Haven't Gained Traction

Jan 26, 2023 10:35 PM

The Miami Heat have remained interested in trading for Jae Crowder, but have yet to bring frameworks to the Phoenix Suns that have been appealing. Other teams have a clearer pathway to a trade for Crowder than the Heat and their talks with the Suns haven't gained traction.

The Suns have no interest in taking back Duncan Robinson, who has three seasons remaining on his deal. Meanwhile, the Heat haven't shown any inclination to offer Caleb Martin for Crowder.

The Heat would pursue Crowder if he's bought out, but the Suns remain hopeful they will trade him by the deadline.

Crowder went to the Heat in February 2020 and started throughout their run to The Finals. Crowder went on to sign a three-year, $29 million deal with the Suns that offseason.

Fred VanVleet Drawing Interest From Several Teams, Including Magic

Jan 26, 2023 12:51 AM

Fred VanVleet is drawing trade interest from several teams, including the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns, Washington Wizards, and Orlando Magic, sources told Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report.

The Magic are reportedly looking to bring in a point guard for the long term to develop next to their young talent, which assumes that VanVleet would re-sign with the team should he get traded.

VanVleet is widely expected to opt out of his player option this summer.

Mat Ishbia Expected To Complete Acquisition Of Suns Before Trade Deadline

Jan 25, 2023 12:35 PM

The sale of the Phoenix Suns to Mat Ishbia is expected to become official within the next two weeks with the new owner assuming control ahead of the NBA trade deadline.

The NBA's Board of Governors is expected to ratify the Ishbia purchase with a vote in early February.

Ishbia is buying a majority stake in the Suns at a $4 billion evaluation.

Even though Robert Sarver is suspended, he still retained the authority over the signing, acquisition or trade of any player with a salary in excess of the league-wide average player salary.

One pressing issue for the Suns is the trade of Jae Crowder. With Ishbia assuming control, that deal could be easier for the Suns to execute.

Ishbia is expected to be a hands-on owner in matters of team building.

Suns Targeting Terry Rozier, Immanuel Quickley, Fred VanVleet In Potential Trade

Jan 24, 2023 1:25 AM

The Phoenix Suns are targeting Terry Rozier, Immanuel Quickley, and Fred VanVleet as trade targets to eventually replace Chris Paul, sources told Marc Stein of Substack.

Paul has played just 27 of the team's 48 games this season due to injuries.

While Quickley is reportedly off the table, Rozier is seen as "attainable" from the Hornets.

VanVleet's status is in flux due to the Raptors' struggles this season and his potential to decline a player option and become a free agent this summer.

Chris Paul Likely To Return For Suns On Sunday

Jan 22, 2023 4:12 PM

The Phoenix Suns have won two games in a row after a long slide. Now, Phoenix is starting to get a bit healthier, as well. The Suns got Cam Johnson back recently, and are set to welcome their veteran leader back, as well.

Chris Paul is likely to play for the Suns on Sunday against the Memphis Grizzlies. This will be Paul's first game after seven-game absence due to right hip soreness.

Overall, Paul has missed 21 games for the Suns this season. Phoenix has gone 12-9 without Paul in the lineup. He also missed 14 games in mid-November to early-December with a heel injury before this latest absence.
