The Phoenix Suns have narrowed their head coaching search down to Doc Rivers, Frank Vogel and Kevin Young, according to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports.

The Suns are searching for a replacement for Monty Williams.

Phoenix also was considering Nick Nurse for the position, but he accepted the same job with the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.

Young is an assistant coach with the Suns and is reportedly a favorite of Devin Booker.

Nick Nurse reportedly pulled out of consideration for the Milwaukee Bucks' head coaching job before they hired Adrian Griffin this weekend.

Nurse is also a candidate for the Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns. Nurse is considering his options after meeting with both teams this past week.

Nurse previously worked with Daryl Morey and finds the prospect of reuniting enticing, sources tell Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Kevin Young has reportedly received a "strong endorsement" from Devin Booker to become the next head coach of the Phoenix Suns, according to Marc Stein of Substack.

Stein added that Young is a "serious candidate" to replace Monty Williams.

It was reported that the team had narrowed down its list to five candidates, though the Suns are also expected to meet with Charles Lee and Kenny Atkinson. 

The Phoenix Suns are expected to interview Charles Lee and Kenny Atkinson for its vacant head coaching role, sources told Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report.

Lee is currently the associate head coach of the Bucks, with Atkinson a Warriors assistant. 

It was reported earlier in the night that the team had narrowed down its list to five candidates, including Nick Nurse, Frank Vogel, Doc Rivers, Jordi Fernandez and Kevin Young.

Fernandez is currently an assistant coach with the Sacramento Kings, while Young is an assistant with the Suns.

The Dallas Mavericks are considered the "likely destination" for Deandre Ayton, sources told Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report.

"The Suns need depth. I can see them getting Tim Hardaway Jr., JaVale [McGee] back, Josh Green and No. 10," added another source.

Ayton and Luka Doncic share the same agent (Bill Duffy of WME Sports) and are on good terms.

The news contrasts Marc Stein's report from earlier in the weekend that the Mavs' interest in Ayton was "overstated."

The Suns are expected to "aggressively" shop Ayton this offseason.

Ayton signed a four-year, $133 million offer sheet with the Indiana Pacers last offseason that the Suns matched. Ayton has $102 million remaining on his contract over three seasons.

"I don’t get any sense at this juncture that Ayton is Dallas’ top trade target," added Stein.

Nick Nurse will meet with the Philadelphia 76ers this week and is also expected to meet with the Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns.

Nurse was let go by the Toronto Raptors after five seasons with the franchise, winning the championship in his first campaign.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that Nurse "is expected to be in high demand and could possibly have his job to choose from, essentially his own selection process."

Daryl Morey hired Nurse to coach the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in 2011.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski also reported he expects Nurse to get at least one offer from one of the teams interesting in hiring him.

The Phoenix Suns are likely to guarantee the $30.8 million salary of Chris Paul for 23-24, sources tell Bleacher Report's Chris Haynes.

Paul is only guaranteed $15.8 million if the Suns waive him by June 28th.

Sources tell Haynes that the Suns currently have the mindset Paul will open the season as their starting point guard.

Paul suffered a left groin strain in Game 2 of the Suns' second round series and would not have been cleared for Game 7 if the series would have advanced. 

The Milwaukee Bucks have received permission from the Phoenix Suns to interview Kevin Young for their head coaching vacancy.

Young is also a candidate for the Toronto Raptors' vacancy, while he is also expected to interview with the Suns.

Young is considered one of the strongest candidates during this coaching cycle.
