Parker And Longoria Involved In Run-In With Police

Dec 26, 2005 11:37 AM

Tony Parker and his girl friend Eva Longoria were involved with a Christmas Eve hi-jinks with the police when police officers claim the two hurled insults and profanities after he told them to move their car.

The officer issued citations to Parker for impeding traffic and failing to produce a valid Texas driver's license.
Parker and Longoria "began screaming in a verbally abusive and demeaning manner," police said, and Parker questioned why the officer touched the car.

Then the officer asked Parker for his driver's license. At that point, according to the police report, Parker instead began to drive away and nearly hit a man standing several feet in front of his car.

Police ordered Parker to turn off the ignition and step out of the car. The officer who wrote up the citations said Longoria then shouted out the passenger window: "He's just a Mexican bike cop. He only wants your autograph."

Once Again Laker-Heat Christmas Match Up Has People Talking

Dec 24, 2005 11:37 PM

This Christmas NBA fans will be privy to a Pistons-Spurs championship rematch and yet another chapter in the Kobe-Shaq novella as the Heat take on the Lakers.

"We had a great run. Three rings," Bryant said. "I think people should leave it the hell alone and move on. ... I understand it's interesting, but we also have an interesting game. The game itself tomorrow is interesting."

"It's a big game, a Christmas game, the marquee game, Shaq and Kobe and Phil and all that stuff," said Heat coach Patrick Riley, who's 4-2 since Stan Van Gundy resigned as Heat coach. "It's got a great sidebar to it

Bogut Beats Buzzer, Spurs

Dec 21, 2005 2:03 AM

Andrew Bogut had the biggest moment of his NBA career. The No. 1 pick in the 2005 draft made a fadeaway jumper as time expired to give the Milwaukee Bucks a 109-107 overtime victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night.

Bogut also scored the tying basket with 14 seconds left in overtime and finished with 19 points, including five in overtime. He added nine rebounds, seven offensive, and two blocked shots.

"I've never had a buzzer-beating game-winner, but to do it in the NBA against the world champions is a great feeling," Bogut said. "The guy I've always looked up to is Tim Duncan. So, to do this against his team is a great feeling for me."

Claxton Misses San Antonio

Dec 19, 2005 3:26 PM

Nearly three years after leaving the Spurs in search of a starting job, Speedy Claxton said he wouldn't mind returning to the team when his contract expires at the end of the season.

"I love San Antonio," Claxton said. "I had a great time there. I guess you can say I kind of miss it."

Claxton helped the Spurs win the 2003 championship by closing out the later games of the NBA Finals when Tony Parker struggled. At the end of the season, the Spurs and Golden State offered him similar three-year, $10 million contracts.

Claxton signed with the Warriors because he thought he would start. But as the season neared, Golden State acquired Nick Van Exel from Dallas.

Big Three Hurt; Ginobili Will Sit

Dec 13, 2005 3:43 AM

Tony Parker has a bruised left knee, Tim Duncan needed an injection in his right foot, and they were the least of the Spurs' concerns Monday.

While Parker and Duncan expect to play tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers at the SBC Center, Manu Ginobili can't say the same. He sprained his right foot ? the same one that's troubled him much of the season ? in Monday's practice and likely will be sidelined for the rest of the week at least.

Ginobili underwent an MRI Monday afternoon that revealed a sprain, which is in a different spot than the bone bruise he suffered on his ankle two weeks ago.

Ginobili missed two games because of his previous injury. Team officials hope to have a better estimate of how long he will be out in the next few days. For now, he is wearing a boot to stabilize his foot.

"Other than that, everyone's healthy," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich quipped after relaying a list of injuries to the team's top three players.

Manu Returns And Hurts Knee

Dec 6, 2005 3:20 AM

After spending the past five days receiving treatment on his bruised right ankle, Manu Ginobili returned to the floor Monday ? and promptly hurt his left knee.

Ginobili suffered his knee-on-knee collision less than three minutes into the game. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich briefly replaced him with Michael Finley, but Ginobili returned and finished with four points, four assists and three rebounds in 21 minutes.

"When you're already (compensating) for one leg and you hurt the other, that makes it more difficult," Ginobili said with a laugh. "None of (the injuries) are serious, but, of course, we have to be careful. I don't want to take three steps back."

Ginobili thought his biggest problem Monday was that he played too tentative.

"I was being too cautious to play my game," he said.

Manu Sits With Jammed Foot

Dec 1, 2005 9:44 PM

Spurs guard Manu Ginobili missed Thursday night's game at Dallas because of a jammed right foot, and Michael Finley made his first start for San Antonio since being waived by the Mavericks.

Coach Gregg Popovich said Ginobili would have an MRI on his foot Friday morning.

"He can't go to his right. It's like a jam under the heel," Popovich said. "There's a lot of pain."

Ginobili hurt his foot in the Spurs' 90-84 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night. Ginobili, who is averaging 15.1 points per game, scored 15 of his 22 points against the Lakers after halftime.
