Suns Deny Discipline Or Trade For Gerald Green's DNP-CD

Jan 31, 2015 3:00 PM

Due to a coach's decision, Gerald Green did not play for the first time in his two seasons with the Phoenix Suns in their win over the Chicago Bulls on Friday.

Jeff Hornacek said it was not predetermined that Green would not play, but decided on the move due to the matchups.

"We have a lot of guys that can play," Hornacek said. "I thought Goran and Eric going up against Rose and Butler and these guys was just a better match and they were playing 40 minutes. There are only so many minutes out there. We just went with the shorter rotation. Maybe tomorrow, it's his night."

The Suns said there is no discipline or trade reason for the benching.

Green, often visibly upset upon being pulled from games, remained encouraging and relaxed throughout the game and took a spot on the end of the bench.

"I'm a professional," Green said. "I didn't know I was going to play tonight, though. We won, though. I'm always ready to go. I've been ready to go since I was in Russia two years ago."

Tim Duncan Sues Financial Advisor For Causing Substantial Loss

Jan 30, 2015 4:16 PM

Tim Duncan said he has sued his investment advisor in Texas state court, claiming he was pushed into investments despite conflicts of interest that ultimately caused him “substantial loss.”

Duncan claimed Charlie Banks, an Atlanta-based financial adviser, hid his own interest in investment opportunities that he recommended to Duncan, according to a copy of the complaint filed in San Antonio.

“Over the course of 17 years, I invested in a series of opportunities presented by Charles Banks, on his assurance that we were working together for my family’s long-term financial security,” Duncan said in a statement. “Banks exploited my good intentions and our relationship for his personal gain and my substantial loss. I’m saddened that my name will join the list of athletes to fall victim to this sort of misconduct.”

Duncan accused Banks of defrauding him through a $7.5 million loan to Gameday, a company Banks controlled.

Duncan was named to the NBA All-Star team on Thursday.
