Adrian Griffin, Ime Udoka Seen As Possible Replacements For Jim Boylen

Apr 30, 2020 1:26 AM

Adrian Griffin or Ime Udoka could possibly succeed Jim Boylen as the next head coach of the Chicago Bulls, league sources told Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic.

Arturas Karnisovas will give his head coach, whether it is Boylen or someone else, full autonomy in choosing their own staff.

While Boylen is hoping to stay, multiple rival executives told The Athletic that they expect Karnisovas to bring in his own head coach.

Karnisovas recently hired Marc Eversley as the team's general manager.

Knicks Retain Scott Perry On One-Year Deal

Apr 29, 2020 11:12 AM

The New York Knicks will retain Scott Perry as general manager on a one-year deal.

“Scott is a well-respected basketball executive who I have known for more than 20 years, and I look forward to continuing to work closely with him as we look to build a winning team in New York," Leon Rose said.

The Knicks needed to make a decision on Perry with a mutual option set to trigger on May 1st.

Perry has a long relationship with Rose and this new deal allows both parties to evaluate the partnership before agreeing to a long-term deal.

The Knicks parted ways with Steve Mills as team president before the trade deadline.

Pistons Could Use 2020 Cap Space In Trade To Collect Assets

Apr 29, 2020 7:52 AM

The Detroit Pistons could use their cap space this offseason to collect assets. The Pistons resolved one of their key anticipated decisions of the 2020 offseason at the trade deadline when they traded Andre Drummond.

"I think what’s going to happen there is going to see how the free agency plays out," said Ed Stefanski. "We’re working on different options that we think we may be able to implement. But until the free agency market opens and what happens, let’s say the ‘A’ players with the higher salaries go off the board, then we’ll be able to see what makes sense and how it all comes together. Do we use that cap space to get a player, too? That’s one option. Do we use that cap space to maybe make a trade somewhere? We could use that. Or do we just save our cap space going into the season to see if we can use it in a trade situation to either get players or to collect assets?"

Apr 28, 2020 12:11 PM

Vlade Divac and Luke Walton "very likely to remain" in their current positions with the Sacramento Kings next season, sources tell Sam Amick of The Athletic.

Both Divac and Walton are signed through the 22-23 season. Walton is in his first season as head coach.

'A Couple' Knicks Players Wary Of Returning To New York In Mid-May

Apr 26, 2020 2:10 PM

The New York Knicks' and Brooklyn Nets' practice facilities will remain closed due to local ordinances after the NBA announced that certain teams will be allowed to open up facilities for individual workouts on May 1st.

Adam Silver could possibly receive a waiver from New York governor Andrew Cuomo for Nets and Knicks players.

A Knicks spokesperson would not confirm if their Tarrytown facility was closed.

With Knicks players sheltering across the country, "at least a couple" of players are weary of returning to New York in mid-May, sources told Marc Berman of the New York Post.

Scott Perry's Future With Knicks Not Guaranteed But Safe For Now

Apr 24, 2020 11:50 AM

The long-term future of Scott Perry as general manager of the New York Knicks is not guaranteed, but is considered safe for now after the team hired Brock Aller.

Perry's contract with the Knicks is up June 30th.

"The impression is Leon will do his due diligence," said one source.

For now, Perry is preparing for the draft and is expected to run it for the Knicks whenever the event takes place. The urgency for the Knicks to make a chance is lessened due to the new logistics amid COVID-19.

“The shutdown may have helped everyone — at least temporarily,’’ one NBA source connected to the Knicks said.
