The Knicks have wanted Andre Miller for three years now. Miller acknowledges he may be traded this summer. But, Frank Isola of the New York daily News reports that miler?s first preference is to stay in Cleveland.

"I like Cleveland but I can't control everything," Miller said. "I'm not worried about what might happen. But I'll be ready for whatever happens."
The Cavs rejected Miller?s request for a maximum-salary extension. The thinking is that they will either trade him or will wait until after the 02-03 season to re-sign him. They will avoid paying the luxury tax at all costs but already have Zydrunas Ilgauskas making the maximum and they want to re-sign Ricky Davis. So the question becomes, can the Cavs pay Miller what he wants?

"I would rather get it over with now," said Miller. "I don't want to be a player that moves around a lot."

The Clippers and Jazz are two of the several teams that have expressed interest in Miller. The Knicks would also love to have Miller as their point guard, but it is unlikely that the Cavs would want anyone on Layden's roster. "I like the Knicks," Miller said. "New York is a great place. But I'm with the Cavs and I'm happy there."

The Cavs own the sixth pick in this month's NBA Ddraft and may be more tempted to trade Miller if they were to draft Dajuan Wagner, the freshman guard out of Memphis. The Knicks select seventh.
