The Celtics (21-2) set a new franchise-record for their best start to a season with an emphatic win over the Wizards (4-16) on Thursday night. Ray Allen scored 22 points; Paul Pierce tallied 22 points and 8 assists; and Kevin Garnett contributed 11 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 dimes in the victory. Boston shot 55% and outrebounded Washington by fifteen at Verizon Center. Caron Butler led the Wizards with 19 points while Antawn Jamison and Juan Dixon each posted 17 points in defeat.

Charlotte shot 48% and outrebounded Dallas by six but couldn?t make big shots down the stretch and allowed the home team to shoot efficiently from beyond the three-point line. Emeka Okafor dominated the paint with 27 points and 17 rebounds; Raymond Felton posted 16 points and 6 assists; and rookie D.J. Augustin added 9 points and 10 dimes.

Carlos Boozer didn?t make his return from a quadriceps injury as they had hoped, but the Jazz (15-9) still prevailed over the Blazers (15-9) on Thursday evening. Mehmet Okur had 27 points and 10 rebounds; Deron Williams tallied 14 points and 11 assists; and Paul Millsap added 17 points and 12 boards in relief of Boozer. Utah shot 48% and attempted eleven more foul shots, allowing them to overcome Portland?s slight rebounding advantage. Brandon Roy starred with 33 points and 8 rebounds; LaMarcus Aldridge posted 22 points; and Greg Oden added 8 points and 9 boards in the loss.
