Pats gonna blow our minds right before the draft.

Yeah by trading our pick

Maybe. I know my personal perspective on where we should trend player wise is pretty different than the Heat. I think if we nailed this draft with trades and nailed next years draft with a high pick, we could really have something. Oh well. I will continue to fantasize..

I want one of Carter, McCain or Williams.

McCain's average wingspan doesn't really phaze me that much, given he's shown he can defend at a high level and get his shot off.

I think i’m passing on McCain. He’ll be good but more in a 6th man sense. Not great at getting to the line. Might just be a smaller height version of Herro. Carter if we go guard all day.

Trey Alexander is also a sleeper for us in the second round. I really like the 2nd round guard crop

Herro who can defend is a borderline all-star though. Not a bad pick at 15.

Carter is the more pure PG though, albeit he's 2 years older than McCain. He would be choice 1A, but I'm still vibing McCain.

I do like McCain and do think he has the potential to be ignitable at the next level. Maybe even Trae Young like? I still think we will side with a bigger player at 15 with more length.

I think Herro/poor man's Trae/Bane are all fair comps for McCain. Not sure if he hits those heights or settles in as a role player, but I think he's a high level rotation guy at worst.

Agree that we probably prioritise length and experience, so my guess is Carter and Da Silva are at the top of the Heat brass draft board.

I'll go on record for Carter/McCain/Williams though

My guess at a way too early mock up to our pick:

1. Atlanta - Alex Sarr, C
2. Washington - Donovan Clingan, C
3. Houston - Zaccharie Risacher, SF/PF
4. San Antonio - Stephon Castle, PG/SG
5. Detroit - Matas Buzelis, SF
6. Charlotte - Reed Sheppard, PG
7. Portland - Ron Holland, SF/PF
8. San Antonio - Nikola Topic, PG
9. Memphis - Rob Dillingham, PG/SG
10. Utah - Dalton Knecht, SG/SF
11. Chicago - Cody Williams, SF
12. OKC - Kel'el Ware, C
13. Sacramento - Kyle Filipowski, C
14. Portland - Jared McCain, PG/SG
15. Miami - Tristan Da Silva, SF/PF

One of the very few bigs in this draft that make sense for a big pairing with Bam. 7’0 230. His 6’10 wingspan not much of an issue for a multifaceted pure stretch big.

Kelel Ware looks like someone we will pass on. Has all the measurables but don’t think he’s going to impress the Heat. I think his BBIQ and motor questions are going to hurt his stock some especially with what we usually go for in players. Seen some Christian Wood comparisons. Could just get Chrisitan Wood for the minimum these days.

I don't think Portland takes McCain. They already have 3 small young guards, they don't need another. I'd say they're more likely to take a big or forward like Da Silva.

The more I see at the combine, the more I think Devin Carter isn't making past the Heat. He's long, strong, can guard 1-3, killed all the athletic testing at the combine, has an alpha mentality as a shooter and defender, makes himself skinny going through screens, brings crazy energy defending the perimeter, gets a crazy amount of rebounds for a guard, and he's got Heat connections. He can also work as a competent secondary playmaker next to Jimmy, Bam, Terry, or Rozier. He screams Heat pick.

I'm imagining him terrorizing Trae next season as we speak.

I think he also has that irrational shooter confidence the Heat likes. The willingness to take the big shots that guys like Gabe and Strus had. Look at some footage from Providence, he has some real hero shots out there. Supreme confidence in himself.

He’ll end up with the Cavs as feel good story. He’s not coming anywhere near here.

Return to Miami Heat
