Bilbao Basket defeated Olympiacos by a final score of 76-61 in Week 1 of the Euroleague Regular Season.

Marko Banic had 22 points and five rebounds to lead Bilbao. D'or Fischer had 16 points and eight rebounds.

Martynas Gecevicius had 15 points in a losing effort for Olympiacos. Matt Howard had two points on four shots in 15 minutes.

2011 Euroleague champion Panathinaikos got off to a good start for the 11-12 season with a 98-77 win over Unicaja Malaga.

Seven members of Panathinaikos finished in double-figures with Final Four MVP Dimitris Diamantidis leading with 17 points.

Romain Sato, Steven Smith, Nick Calathes, Kostas Kaimakoglou, Aleks Maris and Sarunas Jasikevicius also finished in double-figures.

The HEBA A1, commonly known as the Greek Basketball League, has postponed the beginning of the 11-12 season.

The league lacks a television contract, which provides the main source of revenues for financially challenged teams.

State broadcaster ERT has already agreed on terms with Panathinaikos and Olympiakos, who voted against this Greek version of a lockout.

Now the league's other clubs, led by PAOK, Aris and Panionios, are putting pressure on ERT to buy their rights, too, to render the league viable.

Byron Mullens has decided to leave Panionis to return to the United States. But the team, according to sources, has replaced him with Marreese Speights of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Mullens and Speights are both represented by Andy Miller.

ARIS BC has signed point guard Dominic James.

James, who came out of Marquette in 2009, was most recently with Lukoil Academic.
