Bobcats Hold Longest Practice In Franchise History

Oct 14, 2012 12:23 PM

The Charlotte Bobcats held a four-hour practice on Saturday, the longest in franchise history.

Head coach Mike Dunlap gave the Bobcats the day off on Friday.

“The crazy part is I don’t remember standing around one time,’’ said Matt Carroll. “He gets you thinking so much and you’re working so hard physically. You don’t realize it because mentally you’re trying so hard to keep up. So much is going on, you don’t realize the time that has gone by.’’

Sessions Opted Out In Part Due To Lakers' Desire For Nash, Williams

Oct 13, 2012 12:26 PM

Ramon Sessions opted out of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, at least in part, because he had concerns that they might acquire Steve Nash or Deron Williams in a sign-and-trade.

"It was one of those situations I looked at like, 'If I do come back what if they trade me?' " Sessions said. "There were talks about getting Deron. They always wanted the bigger-named guy. What if I get traded to a team and it's my contract year? It was one of those things that I can't say if I opted in, [Nash] wouldn't have come. They still might have tried to get him. You just never know."

Sessions ended up signing with the Charlotte Bobcats.

Bobcats Name Henderson, Carroll Captains

Oct 4, 2012 10:41 AM

The Charlotte Bobcats have named Gerald Henderson and Matt Carroll team captains.

Henderson and Carroll are among the longest-tenured Bobcats and also were two of the most committed players to Mike Dunlap's workout program.

“He asked me if I wanted to be captain. He wanted me to take it on,” said Henderson said Wednesday. “I don’t like just being called a captain. I wanted to earn it.”
