Bulls Giving Dwyane Wade Green Light On Open Three-Pointers

Sep 28, 2016 7:39 PM

Dwyane Wade has never really developed his three-point shot but Fred Hoiberg is prepared to give him the green light on open attempts. Wade did shoot 52.2 percent on 3-pointers during last season's playoffs when defenses stacked to try to take away his driving and slashing game.

"That's a little new for me," Wade said.

"A lot of people have talked about me not shooting 3s, but no one has been able to take away what I wanted to do. So why would I do something else?" Wade said. "When you take it away, I have the ability to knock it down. I'm not Doug McDermott. I'm not Niko (Mirotic). But I'm comfortable with the shot and I'm going to shoot it. I know it's going to be there, so I have a better chance of knocking it down."

Jerry Reinsdorf: Joakim Noah Not 'Frontline Guy Anymore'

Sep 9, 2016 2:06 PM

Joakim Noah left the Chicago Bulls this offseason to sign a four-year, $72 million deal with the New York Knicks.

The Bulls showed little interest, if any, in re-signing Noah.

“What we felt was it was time,” Jerry Reinsdorf told the Chicago Tribune. “We felt Joakim wasn’t going to be a frontline guy anymore. I was pretty confident that Pau (Gasol) was going to leave. So it was important for us to get the center in (Robin) Lopez.

"It was time for Derrick to go on and play someplace else and try to establish himself. (Gar Forman) and (John Paxson) were high on the Grant kid (Jerian). We thought that was the necessary first step no matter how we were going to go.”

Last season, Noah was limited to just 29 games due to injuries.

Dwyane Wade: My Decision To Sign With Chicago 'Bigger Than Basketball'

Sep 2, 2016 8:12 PM

Dwyane Wade chose to sign with his hometown Chicago Bulls this summer for reasons that go beyond basketball.

"My purpose for being back in the city is bigger than basketball. Basketball is a big part of it, of course; it's what I do for a living," said Wade. "But I think my purpose at the end of the day hopefully is to come to Chicago and be a part, be a voice that can help bring people together."

The city of Chicago has been deeply impacted by violence this year and his cousin, Nykea Aldridge, was murdered on Aug. 26. Police say Aldridge, who was pushing a baby in a stroller, was not the intended target.

Wade and his mother were part of a series of panel discussions on gun violence hosted a day earlier by The Undefeated on ESPN.

"We're coming off doing the town hall meeting, literally the night before. My mother's on the panel, we're using our voice, using our platform to shed some light on the city of Chicago for others to look in and see how we can all help and all come together, and hours later one of my family members is killed," Wade said. "For me it's tough. I want my family to grieve in private, but my name is attached to it."
