Magloire (6-11, 265) played 24 games for New Jersey this season and averaged 1.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 10.8 minutes.  The eight-year pro has career averages of 8.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.0 block while shooting 47.9% from the field in 530 total games with four different franchises (Charlotte/New Orleans, Milwaukee, Portland and New Jersey).

Magloire was the 19th overall selection in the 2000 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets after playing four years for the University of Kentucky.  He was a member of the Wildcats 1998 National Championship team.

In addition to the Mavericks, the Suns, Spurs, Rockets and Celtics have expressed interest in the guard.

Jason Kidd, one of the newest Mavs, has already thought of recruiting Barry.

"I was going to call him and see where his mind-set is, but I haven't had a chance to call," Kidd told the Star-Telegram. "He makes the game easy. He would definitely help."

Mavericks Looking For A Big Man

Feb 21, 2008 2:52 AM

The Dallas Mavericks are looking for a big man to replace DeSagana Diop, who was part of the trade to acquire Kidd, Mavericks' owner Mark Cuban has told the Dallas Morning News.

"If somebody gets cut or there's a trade, a guy like [recently waived] Justin Williams at Sacramento, who is kind of like where DeSagana was a couple years ago, we'll take a look," Cuban said.

If no trade is made, the Mavericks may chase someone like Dale Davis, who has been out of the league and presumed retired.  But do not expect Cuban to contact P.J. Brown, who shares the same agent as Devean George and advised George to veto the original trade which would have bought Kidd to Dallas sooner.

"He's a Bartelstein guy, and all things being equal, we'd say no," Cuban said.
