The Dallas Mavericks have traded forward Jarrod Uthoff to the Houston Rockets in exchange for cash considerations. 

Uthoff is non-guaranteed for 17-18 at $1.3 million. 

Uthoff (6-10, 220) appeared in nine games for Dallas as a rookie last season, averaging 4.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 12.8 minutes per game.

Uthoff signed a pair of 10-day contracts with the Mavericks on March 9 and 19, and then a multi-year deal with the club on March 29.

Dirk Nowitzki has been named the winner of the Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award.

Vince Carter, Tim Duncan, Shane Battier and Chauncey Billups are past recipients of the award.

Nowitzki is coming off his 19th year in the NBA.

"I'm pretty sure none of my teammates voted for me," said Nowitzki upon receiving the award.

The Dallas Mavericks have declined their $25 million option for the 17-18 season on Dirk Nowitzki.

Nowitzki could sign a new two-year deal with the Mavericks.

The decision by the Mavericks on Nowitzki will give the team flexibility in free agency.

This is the third time Nowitzki has been a free agent since 2014.

The Dallas Mavericks will decline their team option on the contract of DeAndre Liggins for the 17-18 season.

The Mavericks claimed Liggins on waivers from the Cleveland Cavaliers during the final week of the regular season.

Dallas could have kept Liggins on a $1.6 million deal.

The Dallas Mavericks have exercised their team option on the contract of Yogi Ferrell.

Ferrell is signed for just $1.31 million for the 17-18 season.

Ferrell was one of the NBA's best success stories after joining the Mavericks from the D-League.

Johnathan Motley has agreed upon a two-way NBA contract with the Dallas Mavericks.

Motley went undrafted out of Baylor.

Motley averaged 17.3 points, 9.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists as a redshirt Junior.

Under these contracts, which are similar to those used in Minor League Baseball, a player will be able to make an NBA salary on a pro-rata basis while with the parent club, while also being able to earn his G League salary when with the affiliate team.

The Dallas Mavericks' top priority in the offseason will be to re-sign Nerlens Noel in restricted free agency.

Noel was acquired by the Mavericks at the deadline from the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Mavericks have also been linked to signing Jrue Holiday, but it may be difficult for them to have sufficient cap space.

Dallas is focused on developing their young core of Noel, Harrison Barnes, Dennis Smith Jr. and Seth Curry.

The Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves have broken off talks centered on a Ricky Rubio for Wesley Matthews trade.

Dallas and Minnesota would have also swapped lottery picks with the Mavericks moving ahead of the New York Knicks at No. 8 to get No. 7 with the Wolves getting No. 9.

Talks between the two teams are now dead.

Matthews has a player option for 18-19, while Rubio can become a free agent in 2019.

The Dallas Mavericks have held internal discussions about trading for Ricky Rubio.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been shopping Rubio for over a year. Minnesota drafted Kris Dunn last June and also have interest in moving in another direction in free agency.

The Mavericks also have interest in signing a free agent point guard.

Rubio won't be a free agent until 2019.
