Camby Falling In Love With Clippers

Oct 31, 2008 9:56 AM

Clippers' center Marcus Camby is starting to fall in love with his new team after an unceremonious departure from the Nuggets.

"I would say it's like a long breakup from your high school sweetheart," Camby said Thursday. "It takes time to get over it 'til you get on to your next girlfriend and a new situation."

Los Angeles acquired Camby from Denver for next-to-nothing this summer.

"I guess the Clippers are my next girlfriend," he joked. "So I'm falling in love again, falling in love with L.A.

"At first, everybody was making a deal about be being out there and what I said initially when I got traded. Yeah, I said it, that's how I felt. But that was two months ago. Now I'm in a situation where I'm with a great coach, a great organization, a great group of guys."

Baron Thinks Clippers Will Have Rough Beginning

Oct 29, 2008 4:36 PM

Clippers' point guard Baron Davis believes that the team will have a rough stretch at the beginning of the season before they bring excitement back to the franchise.

"We're going to hit some bumps early because we lost the preseason," Davis said. "Our first 20 opponents are pretty much all playoff teams, so we're going to be battle-tested early. We just have to be able to weather that storm."

Clippers Worked Out Lindsey Hunter

Oct 23, 2008 4:07 PM

The Clippers worked out free agent guard Lindsey Hunter as a precaution recently when the status of Baron Davis was unknown.

"We worked him out and he looked great," Clippers coach and general manager Mike Dunleavy said. "He's in great shape, and a good veteran guy."

Davis is only expected to miss another week, so it's unlikely that they'll sign Hunter.

Baron On GSW Upper Management: It's Not Good To Be Lied To

Oct 21, 2008 10:58 AM

Baron Davis and Golden State VP Chris Mullin had a tentative agreement for a three-year, $39 million contract extension before Warriors' President Robert Rowell refused those parameters. Davis opted out and signed a five-year, $65 million deal with the Clippers.

"Not to keep dwelling on it, but me and Mullin, we had a great relationship," Davis said. "From the time that we made our playoff run, I was just told to be patient, and everything was going to work out. It's not good to be lied to, and to Chris Mullin's credit, he did a great job of being honest, and you really don't find that much in this league.

"They said don't make it a big deal; we're going to take care of Baron. Everybody knew that I was going to be there. And I guess upper management felt that they needed to go in a different direction. There's no hard feelings at all. It's a business. I totally understand that.

"I just wish them well. I just hope that the fans give me the same love I got when I was there because I still want to be the same guy I was walking around San Francisco and Oakland. I'm still going to be me, and outside of basketball, I just appreciate that journey. It helped resurrect my career."

Baron Won't Need Surgery

Oct 20, 2008 7:10 PM

Los Angeles Clippers point guard Baron Davis underwent an examination today by Dr. Roy Meals, a hand specialist with the UCLA Medical Group.  The examination revealed that Davis had sustained a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his left ring finger.  The injury does not require surgery and is expected to heal on its own. Davis will wear a splint and is expected to resume all basketball activities in one week.

Davis was originally diagnosed with a sprained left ring finger after falling on his hand during practice at the Los Angeles Clippers Training Center on Friday, October 17th.  X-rays taken after the injury occurred were negative and a subsequent MRI revealed results that were inconclusive, leading to today?s follow up examination.
