Vander Blue Agrees To Partially Guaranteed Deal With Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers and Vander Blue have agreed upon a partially guaranteed deal.

Blue last played in the NBA during the 14-15 season with the Lakers. Blue averaged 15.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 27.4 minutes per game during Summer League.

Blue was the 2017 MVP of the G-League.

The Lakers will hold a team option for Bryant for the 18-19 season as they want to preserve cap space.

Bryant was the No. 42 overall pick by the Lakers in the 2017 draft out of Indiana.

Derrick Rose and the Cleveland Cavaliers are meeting on Monday to discuss a one-year contract.

Rose's deal would be for one-year at the veteran's minimum of $2.1 million.

Rose met with the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday, but appears to be leaning towards joining the Cavaliers. Rose would prefer to sign with a contender to rebuild his trade value.

The Cavaliers' discussions with Rose come amid Kyrie Irving's trade request.

Rich Paul Reached Out To Lakers On Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

Rich Paul reached out to the Los Angeles Lakers about their interest in Kentavious Caldwell-Pope as he knew they had ample cap space this offseason that they were trying to preserve for 2018.

“Rich had called us with a possibility he would consider us for a one-year deal,” Magic Johnson said. “Rob and I really started watching film and we were just blown away. ... I wanted somebody mean and tough that we could count on to get that big stop for us.”

Caldwell-Pope signed a one-year, $18 million deal with the Lakers.

Johnson and Rob Pelinka both thanked Paul for his work in helping the deal go smoothly.

Paul also represents LeBron James, who the Lakers are expected to pursue in 2018.

Lonzo Ball Named Summer League MVP

Lonzo Ball was named Most Valuable Player of NBA Summer League 2017 and headlines the All-NBA Summer League Teams, as selected by a panel of media members.

Ball, the first Laker to be named NBA Summer League MVP, averaged 16.3 points and a league-leading 9.3 assists to go with 7.7 rebounds and 2.5 steals. He recorded two triple-doubles, including the first in Las Vegas since 2008, when he contributed 11 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in an 86-81 loss to the Boston Celtics on July 8. On July 13, he tallied a triple-double of 16 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds in a 94-83 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Joining Ball on the All-NBA Summer League First Team are John Collins (Atlanta Hawks), Josh Jackson (Phoenix Suns), Dennis Smith Jr. (Dallas Mavericks) and Caleb Swanigan (Portland).

The Second Team is composed of Cheick Diallo (New Orleans Pelicans), Bryn Forbes (San Antonio Spurs), Kyle Kuzma (L.A. Lakers), Wayne Selden Jr. (Memphis Grizzlies) and Jayson Tatum (Boston).

"It's making a statement to the brands of what they could have had with an open mind," LaVar Ball said via text message. "The players are the brand ambassadors. The brand is nothing without the players."

Asked whether there's still a chance that a big shoe brand can sign his son Lonzo Ball, LaVar responded: "If the price is right. Quite frankly we are officially in the shoe game, and are a billion dollar brand either way."

The Ball family has put a lot of time, effort and finances behind Big Baller Brand.

The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to sign Alex Caruso to a two-year, two-way contract.

Caruso has averaged 6.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 17.2 minutes per game for the Lakers in Summer League.

In 50 games in the G-League with the Oklahoma City Blue last season, Caruso averaged 11.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.2 assists. 

Caruso went undrafted in 2016 out of Texas A&M.

Lonzo Ball Records Summer League's First 30-Point, 10-Assist Game

Lonzo Ball had 36 points and 11 assists in the Los Angeles Lakers' Summer League win on Wednesday over the Philadelphia 76ers.

According to RealGM's database that dates back to 2004, no player in Summer League had ever recorded a game scoring 30+ points and 10+ assists.

Since a disappointing opening game in which he went 2-for-15, Ball has since recorded a triple-double and then his 36-point, 8-rebound, 11-assist, 5-steal, 2-block performance against the 76ers.
