Wade Asking For Sole Custody Of Sons

Mar 31, 2010 5:31 PM

Heat star Dwyane Wade has asked a court to grant him full custody of his two young sons.

The request adds to an already drawn-out divorce proceeding between Wade and his estranged wife.

Wade has also asked that his wife be ordered to undergo a psychological examination.

The couple has two boys, ages 8 and 2.

"For more than two years, I have tried to make peace with Siohvaughn concerning our divorce and custody of our kids," Wade said in a statement.

"I no longer believe that's possible. Siohvaughn has consistently attempted to interrupt or prevent me from having visitation time with our boys."

Wright May Be Out Of Chances In Miami

Mar 31, 2010 6:17 AM

The Heat may think twice about giving Dorell Wright a long-term contract this summer in the wake of two embarrassing off-court incidents.

Wright received a DUI earlier this year and recently had personal photos leaked on the internet.

Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel writes, "Any chance of the Heat considering any type of long-term deal is just about out the door. He's not a bad kid, but he's also not a reliable investment. It's a shame, because he has finally come around on the court and makes his team better. But no one needs this type of drama with an eighth man."

Bosh Downplays Friendship With Wade

Mar 29, 2010 11:21 AM

Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh were teammates on the USA's 2008 gold-medal Olympic team, and both are represented by Chicago-based agent Henry Thomas. But Bosh said the connections with Wade should not be overstated when it comes to potentially being teammates.

"I know Dwyane a little bit, not a lot," Bosh said. "We haven't spent that much time outside of USA Basketball. People always are going to look for some kind of connection. That's understandable. People are going to try to make things up. There is always going to be speculation. So I'll let everybody write their stories and keep going about my business."

Wade Edges Roddick In H-O-R-S-E

Mar 28, 2010 11:00 AM

Heat star Dwyane Wade narrowly defeated tennis star Andy Roddick in a game of H-O-R-S-E on Saturday.

Wade made a layup after jumping over a tennis net for the clinching shot, rallying to win the celebrity showdown on a tournament practice court Saturday at the Sony Ericsson Open.

Roddick, who imposed a no-dunk rule, sank several shots early and led H-O-R to H, which left Wade resorting to the leap over the net and other inventive maneuvers.

"He started off hot," Wade said. "He made a lot of shots. I was kind of surprised. I had to go use my athleticism a little bit. I could see he was going to win the jump-shot contest out here, so I had to go to something else."

Jermaine Knows Free Agent Value Will Be Tied To Playoff Success

Mar 21, 2010 12:28 PM

The Heat are headed for the postseason as they look to maximize cap space this summer.

Jermaine O'Neal is one of several players with expiring contracts that are a part of Miami's regular rotation.

As the Heat attempt to re-sign Dwyane Wade, while also luring another top-level star, the value of guys like O'Neal will depend on his performance and the team's success in the playoffs.

"We're going to be judged by if we make the playoffs or if we don't, " O'Neal said of maximizing free agent value. "Any teams that don't make the playoffs, guys are not going to get looked at in a high-value type of way."
