Jimmy Butler, Udonis Haslem Have To Be Physically Separated During Timeout

Mar 24, 2022 8:42 AM

Miami Heat veterans Jimmy Butler and Udonis Haslem had to be physically separated during a timeout clash on Wednesday night. As the Heat fell behind the Golden State Warriors, Haslem seemed to take offense to Butler's effort level.

This led to an argument during the timeout where both players seemed to challenge each other. Players and coaches eventually walked both Butler and Haslem away from the huddle.

Postgame, Kyle Lowry and P.J. Tucker, as well as Erik Spoelstra, tried to downplay the incident. Tucker said it's normal and common for things to get heated between teammates. Lowry called it "crazy", but said those things happen during a season. Spoelstra said it is part of having a "competitive, gnarly group".

Heat Considered Legitimate Suitor For Bradley Beal

Mar 21, 2022 10:10 AM

The Miami Heat are viewed as a legitimate suitor for Bradley Beal should he seek an exit from the Washington Wizards this offseason, multiple sources tell Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Miami would need to complete a sign-and-trade in order to acquire Beal from the Wizards. The Philadelphia 76ers also did their due diligence on a potential trade for Beal.

Across the NBA, however, there is an expectation that Beal will ultimately decide to re-sign with the Wizards. Every year, Beal and his representatives evaluate the landscape with the Wizards and options elsewhere while so far always remaining with the franchise that drafted him in 2012.

Beal is eligible for a five-year, $245.6 million deal that the Wizards are committed to making.

Markieff Morris To Return After Four-Month Absence With Whiplash

Mar 12, 2022 6:06 PM

Miami Heat forward Markieff Morris has been cleared to play on Saturday night. This will be Morris' first game since getting injured on November 8 in a game against the Denver Nuggets.

Late in the fourth quarter of that game, Morris delivered a hard foul to Nuggets center Nikola Jokic. Jokic reacted by shoving Morris to the floor. Morris was given a Flagrant 2 foul, while Jokic was assessed a technical foul. Both players were ejected.

Jokic was later suspended one game for his action. Morris has been out since, but is now set to make his return to the Heat lineup. In 10 games this season, Morris has averaged 7.7 points in 18.7 minutes per game.

Execs, Agents Believe Tyler Herro's Extension Could Approach Max

Mar 11, 2022 10:53 AM

Tyler Herro is a leading Sixth Man of the Year candidate as he's averaging 20.8 points, 4.8 rebounds dn 4.0 assists per game for the Miami Heat.

Some rival executives and agents polled by Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report believe Herro could command an extension approaching a five-year, $184 million max.

Others, however, have pointed to Jaylen Brown's four-year, $106 million extension structure. Fred VanVleet and Lonzo Ball each signed four-year, $85 million deals, which are clear benchmarks that Herro likely will exceed.

Combo guards such as Jalen Brunson and Collin Sexton are seeking contracts of more than $20 million per season.

Sources tell Fischer that the Heat were resistant to moving Herro for Kyle Lowry last year, but league insiders maintain that they would sacrifice his promising ceiling for a chance to acquire the right superior talent.

"We all know Miami goes big-fish hunting," one general manager told B/R.
