The Bucks have received some positive news, as center Andrew Bogut didn't damage any ligaments in his ankle on Wednesday when Australia battled the United States, according to The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Bogut stepped on the foot of Kobe Bryant during the United States' victory on Wednesday, which ended Australia's Olympic run.
"The initial tests show no tear or break of anything," said David Bauman, Bogut?s agent, late Thursday. "It looks like it?s a bad sprain, and he will probably need a couple weeks of rest, recuperation and rehab.
"As of now, we?re not worried that it?s something very serious. It?s just a very bad ankle sprain."
Bucks center Andrew Bogut injured his ankle during Australia's loss to the United States on Wednesday, according to The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
"I think it?s a ligament," Bogut said, thinking the worst.
Bogut was to undergo an MRI on Thursday to determine the severity of the injury.
"I stepped on Kobe?s foot and rolled it," added Bogut, who signed a five-year, $60 million contract with Milwaukee this summer.
Bucks' GM John Hammond is impressed with how Team USA has played in the Olympics Games thus far, according to The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
"I would classify them as a team that is hitting on all cylinders right now," Hammond said. "They are playing about as well as they can possibly play. If they continue to play at this level, I think it will be difficult for anyone in Olympic play to beat them."
Team USA will face Australia on Wednesday morning.
"They are doing just a great job defensively," Hammond said of the United States. "When you pick it up another notch as they have done defensively, that?s when your athleticism is really going to show. That?s when your superior speed, your superior quickness, is going to show."
Michael Redd can't believe he's still a member of the Bucks after all their offseason moves, according to The Boston Globe.
"Out of everybody, I'm still here," said Redd recently. "We have a whole new roster, a whole new group of guys. I was shocked that I remained."
Redd averaged 22.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game for the Bucks last season.
"I thought with the rebuilding of the team and the changing of coaches and the organization moving in different ways, I thought I might be gone, too," Redd added. "Hey, I'm here."
A source claims that the Cavaliers could have gotten forward/center Dan Gadzuric from the Bucks in the Mo Williams trade but declined, according to The Morning Journal.
Gadzuric averaged 3.2 points and 2.8 rebounds for the Bucks in 51 games last season.
New Bucks' point guard Luke Ridnour is excited about the fresh start he'll receive in a new uniform, according to The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
"Ever since I heard the news, I can?t tell you how excited I?ve been," Ridnour said Friday as he was introduced by his new team.
"It?s a good system for me to play in, to play for a coach that was a point guard himself," Ridnour continued. "I enjoyed it under Nate McMillan, and I?m going to enjoy it under Coach Skiles. It?s just his competitiveness and toughness; I?ll try to bring that to the court."
"One way or another, we are going to be a much better defensive team," Scott Skiles said. "Right behind that, we want to be a good rebounding team, and we want to push the ball, in that order."
The Bucks appear to be done making moves this offseason as GM John Hammond expects the team to stand pat, according to The Chicago Tribune.
"I would assume, sitting here today, that this is probably the roster that we would probably go to camp with," Hammond said of the team. "But the job continues. It never changes. You continue to work the phones, talk to teams. That never stops. They never stop, we never stop. And if an opportunity would present itself to make us better, we're always going to consider things. But right now, I suppose, if you looked at it, you would probably say this is our group."
Milwaukee traded Yi Jianlian to New Jersey for Richard Jefferson, drafted Joe Alexander, and sent Mo Williams to Cleveland in a three-team deal that involved Oklahoma City, as well.
The Bucks officially signed backup center Francisco Elson to a two-year deal worth roughly $3 million on Wednesday afternoon, according to The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
The official signing got lost in the all events surrounding the three-team trade that sent point guard Luke Ridnour to Milwaukee on Wednesday.
"He's played over 5,000 minutes in this league and brings experience to our roster," Bucks' GM John Hammond said of Elson. "He's played for an NBA champion (with San Antonio). He runs the floor, and he's another guy who can step out and make a face-up jump shot."
An NBA executive said the Cavaliers, in a trade expected to be completed later today, finally have acquired a top-level point guard in executing a six-player, three-team deal.
The Milwaukee Bucks traded point guard Mo Williams to the Cavs in exchange for the expiring contracts of guard Damon Jones and forward Joe Smith.
As part of the deal, the Bucks will receive Jones and Oklahoma City point guard Luke Ridnour. Oklahoma City acquires Smith and Bucks forward Desmond Mason. Oklahoma City also will send swingman Adrian Griffin to the Bucks.
