Towns Wants To Always Be Strongest, Most Intelligent, Most Skilled Player On Court

Nov 17, 2015 2:06 PM

After a recent loss by the Minnesota Timberwolves in which Andrew Wiggins and Ricky Rubio did not play, Karl-Anthony Towns was visibly frustrated in the locker room for failing alert the team's guards about incoming screens on defense.

The Wolves were given the next day off but Towns was at the team's practice facility by 9 AM.

"I work hard on my game," Towns tells ESPN.com. "I want to be the strongest player, the most intelligent player and the most skilled player on the court at all times."

Towns has been developing his offense around the basket and he'll eventually stretch out to three-point line with regularity.

"We all know I can hit 3s," Towns tells ESPN.com. "But for now, I'm taking what the defense gives me."

Towns ranks 9th in PER in his rookie season amongst all active NBA players.

Nov 12, 2015 9:56 PM

Glen Taylor is in serious talks to sell an approximate 20 percent stake in the Minnesota Timberwolves to a group led by Steve Kaplan.

Kaplan's group hopes purchasing a minority share will help position themselves to purchase the majority stake in the Wolves once Taylor decides to sell.

Kaplan is partnering with ex-Memphis Grizzlies CEO Jason Levien and Indonesian billionaires Handy Soetedjo and Erick Thohir.

Kaplan has an ownership stake in the Grizzlies and tried to purchase the Atlanta Hawks.

Wolves Have No D-League Plans Yet For Tyus Jones

Nov 7, 2015 7:45 PM

The Minnesota Timberwolves don't have any immediate plans to send Tyus Jones to the D-League to get minutes.

Jones is currently the Wolves' fourth point guard.

“Tyus has done a good job,’’ Sam Mitchell said. “His practices have been great, his workouts, and I thought he played well in the preseason. The season is long, and everybody gets a chance to play. At some point, Tyus will get a chance to play.’’
