Colangelo Hasn't Discussed Future With Raptors

Jan 29, 2011 6:35 PM

Bryan Colangelo is in the final year of his five-year contract with the Raptors, but the general manager says he hasn't spoken to anybody within the franchise about his future.

The Raptors are headed for the lottery for the third consecutive season.

There have been rumors that Colangelo is seeking another five-year deal worth at least the $20 million his current contract was valued at, according to the Globe and Mail.

Colangelo says he's made no contract demands and his focus is on taking advantage of Toronto's improving draft position by scouting tirelessly.

"I haven't talked to anyone about my contract," he said. "Anyone who says I have is talking BS. I'm not looking for the door right now; I love being here. My focus is on moving forward."

Jan 28, 2011 10:36 PM

The Raptors lost their 10th consecutive game on Friday, dropping a 116-110 decision in overtime at home to Milwaukee.

Most NBA players were on highly successful high school teams, but DeMar DeRozan is an exception.

“My first two years in high school, [they were] tough,” DeRozan said. ”My first two years, we were horrible.”

Toronto's losing streak is their longest in almost five years.

Johnson took a pay cut to leave Europe to pursue his goal of playing in the NBA.

“This is my goal, this is my dream, so I felt like to leave and take money, I’d be giving up on myself,” Johnson said.

Dallas Signs Stojakovic After Ajinca Deal

Jan 25, 2011 6:08 AM

The Mavericks were allowed to sign Peja Stojakovic on Monday night after the NBA approved their trade of Alexis Ajinca to the Raptors.

Stojakovic had been released by Toronto on Thursday.

Dallas sends Ajinca to Toronto and will pay the remainder of his $1.5 million salary for the season and return a future second-round pick that the Raptors had sent the Mavericks last June, as well as cash considerations.

In return, Dallas receives the rights to 2007 second-round pick Georgios Printezis and a trade exception equal to Ajinca's $1.5 million salary.

Cuban Confident Trade, Peja Signing Will Go Through

Jan 23, 2011 8:06 PM

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is confident that the team will trade Alexis Ajinca to the Raptors and sign Peja Stojakovic.

The league has been analyzing the Ajinca move to make sure it is compliance with league rules.

"I was in their (NBA) offices when all this was going down," Cuban said.

"I showed them my texts. We have been talking to Toronto about Peja since Caron went down. We called Bryan (Colangelo) and asked if we could talk to Peja's agent. We asked if he'd be interested in us if he got bought out and they said yes. So then when the buyout happened, Bryan asked about Alexis and if we'd be willing to trade him if we paid the rest of his salary. So that's how it happened."

Cuban said he's very optimistic that the deals will go through without issue on Monday.

"I mean, it's the NBA, but I do expect it to go through," he said.

Wade, Bosh Out Against Raptors

Jan 22, 2011 8:39 PM

The Heat were expecting to be without Chris Bosh on Saturday night against the Raptors, but they missed Dwyane Wade as well.

Bosh is out with a sprained left ankle, while Wade is dealing with a migraine headache. He has missed several practices and shootarounds recently as he deals with a sore left knee.

"If anybody in the world can come up with a cure for migraines, they'd probably make a lot of money," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.

Stojakovic Still Bound For Dallas Despite Trade Snag

Jan 21, 2011 5:53 PM

The Mavericks still plan to add Peja Stojakovic early next week, despite the fact that the trade to create a roster spot remains on hold, according to sources.

Dallas and Toronto both have expressed confidence that the trade of center Alexis Ajinca will ultimately be approved.

NBA officials spent Friday examining the swap for salary-cap compliance after postponing a trade call originally scheduled for Thursday night to ratify the deal.

The Mavericks sent Ajinca back to the team's hotel on Thursday before their game against the Bulls.
