Oct 31, 2020 9:53 PM

The Toronto Raptors have discussed playing at the Prudential Center in Newark next season, sources told Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

The league prefers Newark as the Raptors' temporary home next season due to its proximity to their division rivals and a desire to limit traveling.

The Knicks, Nets, 76ers, Celtics, and Wizards are all within 225 miles of the Prudential Center.

The Raptors have also discussed playing in Tampa Bay and Nashville, according to sources.

Raptors Could Play 20-21 Season In Louisville

Oct 21, 2020 10:10 PM

The Toronto Raptors may not be able to play the 20-21 season in Canada due to the COVID-19 travel ban with Louisville, Kentucky being broached as a possible alternate location.

Louisville wouldn’t be first in line in the event of relocation or expansion, but it seems to be an easier sell to house the Raptors for a short period.

The Raptors would play at the KFC Yum! Center.

No decision has been made on this topic as it is one of many the league must decide upon in the coming weeks.

Raptors Need Fred VanVleet Contract Below $80M Over Four Years To Keep Max Slot For 2021

Oct 19, 2020 8:28 AM

The Toronto Raptors would like to re-sign Fred VanVleet this offseason while also maintaining enough cap space for a max contract slot in 2021.

The target Toronto is looking to not exceed for VanVleet is a four-year, $80 million deal.

If the Raptors sign VanVleet to a larger number due to interest from rival teams, they would presumably need to shed salary in other areas if they end up signing a max player in 2021.

The Raptors are widely expected to pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo if he becomes a free agent in 2021.

Raptors Unveil New Uniforms

Oct 15, 2020 7:54 AM

The Toronto Raptors unveiled three of the five uniforms the team will wear in the 2020-21 season, showcasing simple but bold design, elements that weave together the lineage of previous uniforms, and a subtle nod to the franchise’s origins.

The now-familiar “north” pointing chevron remains a key element of the latest editions – it was first introduced on the jersey side panel in 2015-16 as part of the team’s rebrand.

The new uniforms are reminiscent of the red Earned Edition jerseys worn for much of the 2019 postseason season and which the team sported on court the evening they captured the franchise’s first NBA Championship.

“Uniforms do matter to players. Our team made the choice to wear the Earned jerseys during the 2019 Finals, for example,” Raptors President Masai Ujiri said. “We want to give our players - and our fans - jerseys they’re proud to wear not just because they say Raptors on the front, not just because they’re a symbol of our city and country, but because they also look great. I think that’s what we’ve achieved with these.”

The concept was a collaborative effort between MLSE’s in-house design team and Nike. The new threads are comprised of recycled PET bottles, a combination of Alpha Yarns and recycled polyester. Each uniform represents approximately 20 recycled bottles.

“As we began to think about the decade ahead, we aimed to create uniforms that not only reflected our franchise’s historic accomplishment in 2019 but also inspired the pursuit of our next championship,” MLSE Chief Marketing Officer Shannon Hosford said. “Our goal was to continue to evolve our ‘We The North’ Raptors brand identity highlighting our key chevron design, which is synonymous with the North and our championship, while also providing our fans with some added swagger while they show their support.”
