Karl Anthony-Towns maintained a 4.0 GPA in his spring semester even while Kentucky reached the Final Four.

"I take everything very serious," Towns said during an appearance at the Dick's Sporting Goods' Sports Matter panel Tuesday. Just wanted to make sure I could play and be the best I could be, especially in the classroom, and I'm glad I came out with a 4.0 GPA."

Tyus Battle, ranked No. 27 by ESPN, has committed to Syracuse.

Battle had previously committed to Michigan.

"I wanted to be closer to home," Battle said of his decision to pick Syracuse. "They told me I could be a versatile guard who could have the ball in my hands a lot."

Battle said he chose the Orange over Michigan, Louisville, Virginia, Kentucky and UConn.

Battle reopened his recruitment in June and immediately took an official visit to Syracuse. Battle had also taken official visits to Duke, Michigan and Louisville before his commitment to Michigan.

"Michigan is a great school, and I love the people, the staff and Coach Beilein," Battle said. "But the key was the distance."
