Rasheed Doesn't Agree With $30K Fine

Nov 30, 2009 7:39 AM

Celtics forward Rasheed Wallace was fined $30,000 by the NBA on Sunday for comments made following Friday's win over the Raptors.

Wallace, who called Toronto's Hedo Turkoglu a "flopper," expected the fine but certainly doesn't agree with it.

"I'm definitely taking this one to the appeals board," he said. "I knew it was going to happen, but I don't know why (it did). I didn't talk about no refs. I'm going to get that one back for sure."

Nov 28, 2009 4:45 PM

Allen missed Saturday's practice, but the team said he made it back in time for Boston's flight to Miami and that he should be available to play on Sunday against the Heat.

Celtics Could Send Hudson To D-League

Nov 28, 2009 9:41 AM

When Tony Allen makes his expected return from ankle surgery next week, the Celtics could send rookie guard Lester Hudson to the NBDL.

"I don't want to go to the D-league," Hudson said, "but if I have to, I will."

Hudson would be just two hours away from the team, in Portland, unlike last season when Bill Walker and J.R. Giddens were shipped to Utah.

"Yeah, but I still don't want to go," he said. "I'd like to be around the guys and learn from the guys, learn the NBA game. The D-league is not the same as the NBA."

Hudson has played less than 37 minutes in his brief NBA career, something the former Tennessee-Martin star isn't accustomed to.

"It's kind of hard," he said, "but you understand that you've got veteran guys in front of you."

Rasheed: Floppers Are Ruining The NBA

Nov 28, 2009 9:00 AM

Celtics forward Rasheed Wallace is upset with what he believes is an epidemic of flopping in the NBA.

Wallace says he was duped into his fifth technical foul of the season by Raptors forward Hedo Turkoglu on Friday night.

"They've got to know that he's a [darn] flopper. That's all Turkododo do," Wallace said after Boston beat Toronto. "Flopping shouldn't get you nowhere. He acts like I shot him.

"That's not basketball, man. That's not defense. That's garbage, what it is. I'm glad I don't have too much of it left."

Commissioner David Stern has complained about flopping in the past, but the NBA has struggled to try and curtail it.

"This game is watered down, watered down with all that flopping. They're setting rules on us to the point where you're taunting if you dunk on somebody. Paul [Pierce] dunked it and then he didn't say nothing, but it's a tech," Wallace added.

Pierce was called for a technical after he dunked on Chris Bosh. Pierce hovered over Bosh as he remained on the ground, apparently injured.

Iverson's Retirement Has His Generation Wondering About Future

Nov 27, 2009 1:51 PM

Allen Iverson's retirement, or possible retirement, has created a time of reflection for several members of the Celtics who are part of the same generation.

?Not only do I think about [Iverson], but then you think about our whole class and all the guys who are just starting to fall off," Ray Allen said. ?Before you know it, it?s a generation past, and everybody is taking off and headed to greener pastures. For me, these days, this is like gravy time for me to be able to continue to play and feel good about it and be strong and my body feels great and to be fresh."

Daniels first felt the soreness following Boston's game against Indiana on Nov. 14.

After some prodding, he corrected his hockey fib.

"I can't skate," Daniels continued. "I'm from Florida. I don't even like ice."

The Celtics could get guard Tony Allen back as early as Wednesday night against the 76ers.

Allen has been rehabilitating from right ankle surgery.

"Tony looked good (Tuesday)," Rivers said.

"I think for him it's going to be a confidence thing (Monday). I didn't think he looked good, and today he looked terrific. He was exploding to the basket. So I think he's very close. We'll wait until (Wednesday) and see how he feels."

Celtics Have Considered Signing Iverson

Nov 25, 2009 7:49 AM

The Celtics have discussed the possibility of signing free-agent guard Allen Iverson, but they don't currently plan to pursue him.

"We have had internal discussions about (Iverson)," team president Danny Ainge said, "but a decision like this has to be unanimous, and it wasn't."

In order to sign Iverson, Boston would have to either trade or cut a player. At this point, it hasn't gotten that far.

There are question marks surrounding his cost and if he would be willing to come of the bench for the Celtics.

"Those are all things to be considered, but we never got to the point where we discussed them with Allen or his agent," Ainge added.

The executive added that if the team suffers an injury or a need comes up, Boston could revisit the idea of signing Iverson.
