The Boston Celtics announced today that the club has requested waivers on guard Gabe Pruitt.
Pruitt was originally drafted by the Celtics with the 32nd pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. Pruitt most recently appeared for the Celtics during the 2009 Orlando Summer League and posted averages of 10.6 points, 4.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game.

The Celtics are looking to trade Gabe Pruitt, whose contract option deadline is Friday, according to an NBA source.
Boston is leaning towards not picking up Pruitt's option, which would make him a free agent.
Pruitt was a second-round draft pick in 2007 out of USC. He is unlikely to be a part of a possible sign-and-trade with the Pacers for Marquis Daniels because Indiana already has four point guards.
The Nets have shown interest in restricted free-agent Glen Davis, but rumors of a sign-and-trade between New Jersey and Boston appear to be premature.
There were reports on Monday that the Nets could land Davis in a sign-and-trade with the Celtics involving forward Yi Jianlian.
Officials from both clubs denied such a deal, and a source claimed that New Jersey inquired about Davis "to see what's up and what they're looking for."
League sources confirmed on Monday that the Celtics and Pacers are looking for a third team to facilitate a sign-and-trade for Marquis Daniels.
Daniels has agreed to join Boston, and Indiana has agreed to work on a sign-and-trade in an attempt to help Daniels get a better contract out of the deal.
The Celtics have offered Tony Allen in a trade, but the Pacers aren't believed to be interested in the guard.
"They need a third team, and that's complicated," one source said. "No other teams have jumped at it so far."
The Pacers and Celtics are expected to further discuss a sign-and-trade for Marquis Daniels this week.
Since Daniels agreed to join Boston, Indiana has signed a few players to low-cost, short-term deals. They have signed, re-signed or agreed to terms with Earl Watson, Solomon Jones and Josh McRoberts over the last week.
Because of that, the Pacers aren't expected to push a sign-and-trade if they believe they are only landing their fourteenth or fifteenth player.
Leon Powe is reportedly considering a contract offer from the Cavaliers.
He is believed to have had talks with the Mavericks as well, but their recent agreement with Drew Gooden likely means they'll end their pursuit of Powe.
Powe, who has yet to receive an offer to remain with the Celtics, isn't expected to come back until the end of the 2009-10 season as he recovers from a knee injury.
The Pacers are shuffling their roster and likely won't complete a deal with the Celtics for Marquis Daniels until they are done.
Daniels could sign outright with Boston as an unrestricted free agent, but multiple reports have the two clubs working out a sign-and-trade.
Indiana will gain an additional roster spot in a few days when Jamaal Tinsley clears waivers.
The Pacers signed Dahntay Jones earlier this month and reportedly reached an agreement with Solomon Jones on Saturday.
The Boston Globe is reporting that Indiana is interested in adding center Ryan Hollins as well.
There is still a possibility that Stephon Marbury could return to the Celtics, according to a league source.
Marbury originally turned down a deal with Boston worth the veteran's minimum of $1.3 million.
The point guard's only other option is Europe, according to Comcast SportsNet New England.
The Nets are among the teams that have expressed interest in Celtics restricted free-agent forward Glen Davis, according to league sources.
New Jersey has their $5.8 million mid-level exception to spend as they search for a power forward on the free-agent market.
They are also interested in Lamar Odom and Drew Gooden, as well as acquiring Carlos Boozer in a trade with the Jazz.
Davis has also received interest from the Pistons, Hornets and Trail Blazers. The Celtics have said that they would match a reasonable offer for the young forward.
If the Pacers and the Celtics work out a sign-and-trade involving Marquis Daniels, Indiana could end up landing Tony Allen or Brian Scalabrine.
The Boston Herald reported on Saturday that the Celtics could offer the Pacers a number of expiring contracts in a sign-and-trade, including those of Allen or Scalabrine.
