Paul Pierce scored 23 points, and Kevin Garnett had 23 points and 11 rebounds for the Celtics, who had gone more than 3 minutes without scoring until Allen's bucket.

Hawks Lose Smith, Law To Injuries But Beat Cats

Nov 15, 2007 2:42 AM

The Atlanta Hawks might have won the game against the Charlotte Bobcats Wednesday night, but they lost two starters.

Josh Smith, who had 15 points and five blocks, strained his left quad early in the third quarter and did not return. The Hawks also lost rookie point guard Acie Law with a left ankle sprain with 6:47 left in the third period. He had two points and six assists. Both did not return.

"We have to evaluate them overnight and see where we are. We have to mix and match right now until we see what our injuries are. I won't know that until tomorrow," Atlanta Coach Mike Woodson said.

"We'll have an MRI tomorrow morning. I don't think it's really that bad," said Smith. "I don't take that long to heal."

Jordan's Divorce Costs Him $168 Million

Nov 12, 2007 12:17 PM

Michael Jordan is setting a record with his divorce as he prepares to pay his former wife an unprecedented settlement of more than $168 million.

Last December, when Jordan, 44, and his wife Juanita, 48, split up, the athlete balked at signing the settlement. Insiders claim that negotiations have added $41 million to the final deal.

The final severance package for Juanita Jordan, which includes the couple?s seven-acre estate in Chicago and custody of their three children, is expected to be agreed before the first anniversary of their last row ? which was said to be about money.

The settlement eclipses the most expensive celebrity divorce on public record, in which Neil Diamond paid his ex-wife Marcia Murphey $154 million. After licking his wounds, the singer, who had married the television production assistant before he became famous, won plaudits for his chivalrous verdict. ?She?s worth every penny,? he said.

Yao Nets 34, Rockets Hold Off Bobcats

Nov 12, 2007 8:23 AM

Houston Rockets' center Yao Ming and guard Tracy McGrady have been called one of the NBA's best scoring tandems. The Charlotte Bobcats won't dispute that.

McGrady and Yao led the Rockets back from a seven-point deficit in the fourth quarter to an 85-82 win on Sunday night.

Yao scored a season-high 34 points, including a pair of free throws with 20.4 seconds left to put Houston in the lead, and McGrady had 12 of his 26 points in the final period as the Rockets won their third straight game.

"I don't think there's a better 1-2 combination ... they might be the best combination since MJ [Michael Jordan] and [Scottie] Pippen," Bobcats' forward Gerald Wallace said.
