Cuban Pulls Plug On Radio Show To Protest League's 'Hypocrisy'

Oct 31, 2006 4:34 AM

Tired of dealing with the NBA?s ?hypocrisy,? Mavericks owner Mark Cuban pulled the plug on his league-approved satellite radio show before it ever aired.

Cuban agreed to begin doing a two-hour Sunday talk show, Mark Cuban?s Radio Maverick, on SIRIUS as part of the NBA?s multimillion dollar broadcast agreement with the satellite network.

Instead, he dropped out of the show citing a difference of opinion with the league and fellow owners on myriad issues, including the recent passage of an owners? code of conduct.

?It was a culmination of many things in my relationship with the NBA,? Cuban said via e-mail. ?I decided to make my decision public because of e-mails from potential listeners and because of the information that some of the other owners or the league leaked to the media this week.?

Oct 29, 2006 1:16 PM

Erick Dampier was having one of his best training camps in his career until he injured his right hip.

"Obviously, I've been out the last couple of days, so I'm probably not going to start out starting the season, which works perfectly fine for me," Dampier said. "I'll probably come off the bench and go out there and do whatever I can, for sure, to make this team win."

Dampier was able to practice on Saturday.

"He just looked strong," Johnson said. "He got through practice today pretty good, so now we're all about looking at recovery."

Cuban Wants All-Star Game At New Cowboys' Stadium

Oct 26, 2006 1:21 PM

Mark Cuban has resisted staging an All-Star Game at American Airlines Center because of the lack of available seats for Mavs season ticket holders.

Cuban confirmmed that he discussed staging the NBA All-Star Game in that stadium at the Board of Governors meeting.

"With how many the new Cowboys stadium is going to fit," Cuban said, "we can take care of all our season ticket holders."
