Stan Van Gundy: Everybody In NBA Is Available

Jan 23, 2017 11:00 AM

Stan Van Gundy claims nobody in the NBA is truly untouchable in response to a report that Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had joined Andre Drummond in the Detroit Pistons' "short list of untouchables."

"Look, these discussions happen all the time, and this idea when teams say somebody's off limits ... see, I won't lie to my guys," Van Gundy said Saturday. "There's no one in this league that's off limits.

"LeBron? What if the Warriors offered Kevin Durant and Steph Curry? They wouldn't consider that, the Cavaliers? They wouldn't consider that? There's no deal? Come on, man. Everybody is available."

Van Gundy's remarks came after a report indicated the Pistons were discussing a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves for Ricky Rubio.

Reggie Jackson Not Following Trade Rumors

Jan 23, 2017 10:57 AM

Reggie Jackson was asked to respond to a report that the Detroit Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves were discussing a trade where he would be dealt for Ricky Rubio.

"Thanks for giving me the news," Jackson said. "I don't listen to ya'll. Most of the time, I just go home, chill, kick it and watch TV. Play games. Kick it with my brother. So, I just don't really follow all of that. I'm just happy to be able to wake up and play basketball."

Jackson is in the second of a five-year, $80 million contract.

Stan Van Gundy quickly shot down the idea of trading Jackson for Ricky Rubio early Saturday, choosing not to deny the report but pointing out general manager Jeff Bower has multiple discussions a day with potential trade partners. Van Gundy texted Jackson about it.

"Yeah, I had no idea," Jackson said. "So I told him, if they traded me it was news to me. I appreciate the text, just letting me know that I was his guy. But like I said, I didn't really pay attention much to it. I see ya'll enough here, I see ya'll enough in the city.

"I'm going to go ahead and tune out. So after this, I'm going to go home and relax."

Stan Van Gundy Insists Pistons Won't Trade Reggie Jackson For Ricky Rubio

Jan 21, 2017 9:43 PM

Stan Van Gundy insisted to reporters he will not trade Reggie Jackson to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Van Gundy confirmed a report that the Pistons and Timberwolves had discussed a multiplayer deal headlined by Jackson and Ricky Rubio this week, but he revealed Saturday morning that he has assured Jackson the deal would not happen.

"I texted Reggie and just said, 'This is crazy season, and we're not trading you for Ricky Rubio,'" Van Gundy told reporters after the Pistons' morning shootaround in advance of their Saturday night home game against Washington.

"That was it. I don't normally address it, but the fact that it was out there and it concerned his agent [Aaron Mintz] enough to call, I addressed it. ‎

"I'm not denying that the discussion took place -- they take place all the time. But that's a lot different than consideration. And clearly we didn't make that move."

Tom Gores Backs Stan Van Gundy Despite Slow Start For Pistons

Jan 16, 2017 10:40 AM

Tom Gores expressed "absolute confidence" in coach/president of basketball operations Stan Van Gundy despite the Detroit Pistons' slow start to the season.

The Pistons entered 16-17 with high expectations but they have a 19-24 record.

On Saturday, Gores had a three-hour meeting with Van Gundy.

"We've got a bump in the road, and that's what success is about -- you have to work through it. It's all about having rough times and your ability to work through," Gores told reporters. "I never worry about Stan, because he wants to win. He's the hardest worker I've ever seen in my life. I believe in him as a man and I believe in him as a strong person."

Gores said Sunday he believes the Pistons "are going to make a run" this season.

"[Gores'] thing was not to overreact to six weeks out of what has been a 2½-year process,'' Van Gundy said. "It was good to sit down and talk through things and get his perspective on things.''

Reggie Jackson Treated For Exhaustion Following Sacramento Loss

Jan 11, 2017 11:15 AM

Reggie Jackson was treated for dehydration after the Detroit Pistons' 100-94 loss to the Sacramento Kings.

Jackson played his usual 30-plus minutes and he was coming off a season-high 47 minutes on Sunday at Portland.

Dehydration and exhaustion are not new issues to Jackson, in his second full season as Pistons starting point guard, who was briefly hospitalized in Toronto last February for the same reasons.

He never missed any game time, but acknowledged previous bouts with dehydration.

"Feels like my body's overheating and freezing at the same time, as well as queasy," Jackson said at the time.
