Paul Pierce Planning On Playing In 16-17

Aug 16, 2016 11:06 PM

Paul Pierce is planning on returning to the Los Angeles Clippers for the 16-17 NBA season.

Pierce has wavered with his decision for most of the summer and could again change his mind.

“I just don’t want to make an emotional decision right now,” Pierce said after the Clippers were eliminated in the playoffs last spring. “I’ll just take some time off, sit down with my family and think long and hard.”

The Clippers signed Pierce to a three-year deal worth approximately $10 million before the 15-16 season.

Pierce would be competing for minutes as a small-ball power forward with Marreese Speights, Brandon Bass and Brice Johnson.

Jordan tried to help convince Durant to sign with the Clippers.

“I tried every day,” Jordan told The Vertical. “We had a shot. And if you ask him, he’d say we had a shot. People can be happy for him, mad at him, but at the end of the day, he did what was best for Kevin, and he can live with that.”

After the Olympics are over, Durant and Jordan will return to being rivals.

“We’ve always been cool,” Jordan told The Vertical. “We compete against each other four times a year. We hang out in the summertime, go on trips together, so it’s great to be on the same team together now.”
